I am seeing the following in the McAfee AccessProtectionLog.txt file.

8/19/2014    7:14:41 AM    Blocked by port blocking rule     C:\Program Files\Tftpd64_SE\tftpd64_svc.exe    Anti-virus Standard Protection:Prevent IRC communication    10.8.56.133:6666

This happens for ports 6666 to 6669 and IP Addresses.

Is this a valid usage of the program and should I add tftp64_svc.exe to the exception list to allow this communication?

A good question would be why you are running TFTPd and why you are running it as a server. (in the sense of what are you using it for).

If you are using it to as a LAN boot server, it may also depend on what you exactly serve on the network through it.

Port 6666 is (besides IRC) also the default port for netconsole which is AFAIK used in a number of Linux setups.
