Grub4Dos problems

Hi, I am having big problems here.

I am on a Windows 7 machine that using Grub4Dos, and I am getting a file not found error :15.

There is no way for me to boot up this machine. I cant use a recovery cd/flash since all my USB ports are 3.0 and Win 7 only supports 2.0. No keyboard and mouse works with win7 in recovery mode. Tried that several of times now.

So, anyone knows how I can manage to boot up the machine from the console?

Or is there another way to recreate MBR?

It is a Win7 installation on mac, using Boot camp.

Did you try a USB 2.0 cable to connect the flash drive?

The flash is working, the problem is that I cant use keyboard and mouse since my computer is using USB 3.0

I guess your grub4dos might be released by another team, and not by chenall and his team. And it could be very old and buggy.

Anyway, you got a "file not found error :15", and it means, you have successfully booted up your machine and entered the grub4dos environment.

The problem is you cannot find your menu.lst or other files with this version of grub4dos.

Yes, proberly. I managed to fix it and add a new MBR records - so now it is working again.

Since it was a windows 7 install on bootcamp and osX, I got problems with the USB ports on my mac since they are of type 3.0. The windows 7 installation doesn't support USB 3.0 when starting up. So the installation just booted up, but no response on keyboard and mouse.

I found a solution on macrumor that forced the installation to use legacy drivers:

- Terminal prompt: diskutil list
- search for the identifier of the Windows 7 install USB stick, e.g. disk1s1
- Terminal prompt: sudo /usr/sbin/bless --device /dev/disk1s1 --setBoot --nextonly --legacy
- restart
- machine boots into Windows 7 installation with needed drivers

This small workaround managed to fix my problem.
