Until now I was rather satisfied with ImgBurn and used it regularly.

Today I downloaded and installed the latest version 2.5.8.0

After installation my firefox had some very "useful" enhancements

  • Yahoo community toolbar
  • Yahoo community engine
  • Text-Enhance

Usually during an installation I choose the "custom installation" and uncheck all "additional" offers.

Here I either have overseen a very perfectly hidden offer, or the malware installation is included in the standard installation.

Some information

Almost everything I install these days offers a totally different program too, it's the way of the world.

http://www.imgburn.c...p?act=changelog

2.5.8.0
Changed: No longer bundling/offering the Ask.com toolbar in the setup program, OpenCandy now handles product offerings during installation.

SetupImgBurn_2.5.8.0.exe dosn't contain "additional" programs.
There is a OCSetupHlp.dll "OpenCandy recommendation engine" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/OpenCandy
These are loaded from the web at installation.
I get a question always: at Full or Custom install.
Given "additional" programs are downloaded, you may have a different experience.

Work around:
Install ImgBurn offline.

Or run 7-zip, open SetupImgBurn_2.5.8.0.exe and extract imgburn.exe.

Synopsis: ImgBurn writes most types of CD/DVD image files to physical media.

You can also ImgBurn to erase/format your rewritable media.
Writes settings to: Application folder
How to extract: Download the installer and extract with Universal Extractor to a folder of your choice.
Remove $PLUGINSDIR, $TEMP and Uniblue folders and create an empty file called ImgBurn.ini with

[Settings]

FILELOCATIONS_GraphDataFiles=.\Graph Data Files\
FILELOCATIONS_ImageFiles=.\Image Files\
FILELOCATIONS_LogFiles=.\Log Files\
FILELOCATIONS_ProjectFiles=.\Project Files\
FILELOCATIONS_QueueFiles=.\Queue Files\

Launch ImgBurn.exe.
