Due to my extensive work, I had to get away from the forum for a while. So I do not know did friends shared a news about it ? Release candidate of the Windows 8 was published by Microsoft. The third-party startmenu are still able to run on the Windows 8. But Microsoft plans to prevent this situation it to final version of the Windows 8. Let's see what happens! Kind regards

They are handy and quite fun once you get them adjusted to your needs/desires.
I can only see that MS is trying to provide the same experience on their OS. It is also the first in over a decade that I see them doing a total overhaul of all the components, not just metro is new.

Funny. His dad is trying to use Win8. He has the right idea near the end but he stays on the right side.

I wonder, will Microsoft continue to make the complex operating systems until we can not use it when we grow old ? So don't laugh at this uncle because same misfortune it may happen to we one day.

Nowadays I get the same problem with Ubuntu Unity. Many menus show nowhere and they need to be guessed.
On a cellphone one has the menu button to show the settings, however this is not the case on a normal desktop. I just hope that one day my son doesn't mock with me that I still use a keyboard and a mouse.

Well there is on a desktop keyboard. It is the Windows key. But if anyone ends up selling all-in-one PCs without keyboards, that could be a problem.
I'd expect a usability type movie/thing in the final release that should at least tell people to use the Windows key.

HOLLYWOOD Microsoft finally had its Apple moment.
On Monday, the Redmond, Wash.-based software giant unveiled a family of home-brewed tablets to rival Apple’s iPad at a hush-hush event in Los Angeles shrouded in mystery and speculation.
Microsoft is taking a huge leap with a mobile-friendly tablet, built on its new Window 8 operating system, which rolls out this fall. The Microsoft Surface and Microsoft RT tablets will be built in-house. The company is stepping into the tablet market at a critical juncture when growth in PC sales is slowing and consumer interest in iPads is soaring. Even some tablets built on Google’s rival Android mobile operating system, such as the Amazon Kindle Fire, are selling strongly.

In Windows 9 Microsoft will probably delete the desktop environment completely and let Metro take over. We will need all to replace our PCs with The Microsoft Surface and Microsoft RT tablets ...

About time. Loving the hybrid cover/keyboard. Have to give it to them. Also like the back stand. Not to mention the pad itself.Microsoft unveils tablet Surface to compete with Apple’s ipad
I dont get why reporters are asking how much and what hardware is inside. Its not being anounced as a finished product yet. Windows 8 isn't finished yet so you wont know untill later. Prices might change if hardware is cheaper. And as far as battery life. Windows 8 is not finished yet. As some of you have notice there are differences on speeds from one windows pre release iteration to the next until a final Windows whatever was released.
Thing I noticed during the Microsoft Surface Keynote. When he wanted to demo netflix. The windows Button would not work. So he got another working tablet and finished the demo. Thats the way to do it, but they need to have some assistant ready with such a task. Best of luck Microsoft . Dont just sell it online and in youre Stores. Get it in diierent tech Stores. Put the SURFACE into Movie's.

They got told almost nothing except what it will look like.
I think MS revealed it now to give the oem's a little time to adjust their plans.
That is still not going to please the oem's. MS is competing with them now.
It is not a level playing field.
