You can enable a proper start menu and disable the new Metro UI using a reg frag. Details here (see end of tutorial).

Very nice. If you also want your good old login screen back, then change the same key under HKLM.

It would be nice to have Metro AND a Start Menu, but MS seem to think no one would want that!
