Hi everyone. I was trying to edit my XP SP2 disc as one of the dll in it got cooroupted and also the disc due to my wrong burning turned not to boot in the bios screen even though the booting priority in BIOS is set to it.

I replaced a WINXPCORP_EN.bif file which is the boot image of the disc iso with the WINXPCORP_EN.bif of my neighbours disc's iso. BUt everytime I boot it says DBOOT:Could not find NTLDR.

So I added the NTLDR & NTDETECT.COM files to my disc.

Even though it didnt work. So How can I fix it?

Translation:
  • I am using a .iso editing program to edit a bootable XP .iso

Common advice is:
  • NEVER use a .iso editing app on bootable .iso's

Rather, create the .iso form scratch using mkisofs.exe or oscdimg.exe.

Just for the record, anyone with a legitimate Corporate version of XP:
  • is unlikely to be your neighbour
  • is unlikely will give you a copy of a .bif file
  • is likely to know how to properly make a bootable XP .iso

The "DBOOT:Could not find NTLDR.", as often happens with MS error messages has NOTHING to do with actual NTLDR. :)
It means it cannot load \I386\SETUPLDR.BIN or, if you prefer, that the WINXPCORP_EN.bif is either "wrong" or "wrongly put" inside the .iso.

Create from scratch, here:
