News sections, new project and tutorials reorganization

First of all, I'm proud to announce on Boot Land that a new project is being launched.

It is dedicated to computer forensics and is called WinFE. (Forensic Environment). This project was created by Brett Shavers and you can follow this project in progress on the official page at http://winfe.wordpress.com


So, given the fact that some our discussions over the past weeks have been getting into the topic of forensics, we now have a section dedicated to this theme and to the development of the WinFE project.

Last but not least, I'm splitting the tutorials section onto several sub-sections. I've noted that it was becoming very difficult to find related tutorials so hopefully this move will help to keep things tidy and organized.

So far I've been adding a new "tutorials" forum inside the topics that seem to need it the most. The large bulk of tutorials has been mass moved so there are still some tutorials to put in the right place.

I really preferred to keep everything in a single place but it was getting too cumbersome to navigate through all the posts. Placing things in categories should motivate people to contribute with tutorials to the topics they are more familiar with and also find related topics easily.

Nuno, I appreciate the support that you are providing to the development of WinFE (Windows Forensic Environment). Troy Larson of Microsoft came up with the idea of using WinPE as a forensic platform and there are several WinFE users that are taking his initial idea to a full fledged forensic working environment. Colin Ramsden (UK) is also working on some substantial features with WinFE that will impress anyone that will use the final release.

I believe that with support from the WinBuilder users, a project of WinFE will be an incredible work of art, so to speak. I encourage anyone/everyone wanting the best Windows Forensic Environment to feel free to contribute ideas or labor in constructing the build. You can't beat the price (as in, there is none), but the end result is very worthwhile.
