I am trying to configure a bootable USB drive and the following are not working for USB Boot w/ the most current Beta.

BitDefender
Dr. Web
Austrumi
UBCD4Win (Created with Windows XP SP3)
Hiren's Mini XP

All above ISOs except Hiren (which is 10.1) are with the most current download (downloaded last week)

I have confirmed the above do work on DVD with the same ISOs. Just pressing Create ISO instead of Make USB.

Any ideas on UBCD4Win or Hiren? I have other AVs working, and other Linux Distros, but there are some things in the PEs that are very helpful.

Great work on this tool.

Exact Filenames are:

BitDefenderRescueCD_v2.0.0_3_08_2009
austrumi-1.8.5 (So i guess this one just got updated)
UBCD4Win v 350
MinDrWebLiveCD-5.0.0 (I guess this just got updated too)

Though only the DrWeb worked with the previous version of Sardu (the one on the site currently) and not with this beta.

I can grab the updates tonight, if the new versions work for you.

BitDefender works fine, in a notebook don't start xf86
DrWeb 5.0.0 works fine, later versions are not supported for USB
Austrumi 1.8.5 works fine
UBCD4Win v350 works fine (found a bug for recovery console, i'm working)

Do you use a real o virtual pc? You've tried in a single PC?
What are the mistakes? I tried with only these iso, I've used other?

OK, I am trying it again.

New build of UBCD 350. Using a Windows XP w/ SP3 VL disc.

System for build is Dell Optiplex 755 w/ Windows XP Sp3

USB Drive is a Kingston 4GB

The following items are enabled in Sardu (All worked when burned to a DVD instead of copied to USB)

BitDefender (BitDefenderRescueCD_v2.0.0_3_08_2009)
Dr. Web LiveCD (minDrWebLiveCD-5.0.0) (This one worked on USB in my attempt with the Non-Beta)
GData (GData_Boot_CD_2010_ENG)
VBA Rescue (vbarescue)
CloneZilla (clonezilla-live-1.2.4-7-686)
Ophcrack (ophcrack-vista-livecd-2.3.1)
Partition Wizard (pwhe42)
Ultimate Boot CD (ubcd50RC1)
Austrumi (austrumi-1.8.5)
NimbleX (NimbleX-2008)
Puppy Linux (pup-431)
Slax (slax-6.1.2)
UBCD4Win (U_B_C_D_4_WIN)
Win7PE (Win7RescuePE)

Results:
BitDefender
--Worked this time
Dr. Web Live CD
--Worked this time
Austrumi
--Worked this time
UBCD4Win
--Blue Screen with no error message after the XP Logo on 2 different systems

On my UBCD4Win build, I am using a Windows XP w/ SP3 VL source from the MSDN Library. It boots fine from the Sardu DVD. What are you using as your source for XP?

I tried replacing the ntdetect.com in minint with Dietmar's but I get the same error.

There is no error message, but the "technical information" is 0x0000007b (0xf78ce528,0xc0000034,0x00000000,0x00000000)

I suppose I will try a different USB key.

I tried the modified NTDetect again, and this time it worked. I think I just didn't replace ntdetect.com in enough locations before.

Thanks for the help.

I dont think Hiren's mini xp is working still. And I was unable to get F-Secure to work. But for the most part, the new Beta resolved bunch of the issues I was having. That and the modified NTDetect.

I would be very happy if it did not work.

It is WAREZ, it is NOT supported on this board and you should be ASHAMED of using PIRATED apps.

Really though? Ashamed? LOL

A bunch of the stuff on that disk is freeware. And it is laid out in an easy to use manner.

Not that it matters, but the free tools are the ones I use.

0x0000007b is missing mass storage driver, for Your USB-Controller in this case. Add them (via sysprep or Critical Driver section in registry) and it will work. :ranting2:

Further information: This error is not related to Sardu or anything related, but a windows problem. Google gives You all You need.

Well, then you won't use the "mini XP" anyway, THAT is NOT freeware.

UBCD has probably the same freewares, and is also well organized:

Hello Wonko,
While I understand your thinking... you should realize that hiren's is a bundle of software.. SOME of which is warez.

For example, I did some work for a local company that used a modified Hiren's CD with everything except the freeware removed.
They simply deleted the commercial app files, and menu entries from the ISO. That way it was ALL freeware.

If I have time I may do the same thing myself.
It would be nice if there was a Freeware only version of it regularly released.

UBCD4WIN does not contain all the same freeware as far as I can see. I wish it did.

I'll check out UBCD and see what it has though.. :wodoo:

Cheers !
