You are seemingly missing a point.

The idea of hiding a partition is that of .... hiding it.

Unhide it, format it, re-hide it, or write your own FORMAT command that "can see" hidden partitions.

But since you are a lucky guy ;) Ranish Partition Manager can do that. ;)

http://www.ranish.com/part/

It can be used:
  • from "pure" DOS
  • as a no-OS boot floppy (or floppy image)
  • from a DOS box in Windows 9x/Me (it will claim it will create havoc if run frm within windows, but usually it doesn't  )

But are you wanting a command line driven app?

If yes, you may want to try diskman:

Sure, it's vey hard to find.

Hint : go to home page:
http://www.cutepm.com/
click on "EULA"
You should land here:
http://www.cutepm.com/eula.htm

What does it actually means is another thing IMHO, it is a mish-mash of a "normal" Commercial license with a "normal" Freeware one, without head or tail.

What it resolves about is essentially, "You can do wahatever you wish with this software exception made for what listed in "RESTRICTIONS", which are not at all clear.

Also, the "Software" can be freely distributed in its original form and you can make as many copies as you want.

RESTRICTIONS

  • You may not modify, rent, lease, lend, license, sell, enhance or pledge the "Software".
  • You may not disassemble, decompile or reverse-engineer the "Software".
  • You may not sublicense or permit simultaneous use of the "Software" by more than one user.
  • You many not adapt, create derivative works based on the "Software".
  • The "Software" is licensed as a single product, and its components may not be separated for use on more than one computer.
  • You may not remove or obscure the "Software" copyright and trademark notices.
  • You expressly agree to protect and take the necessary precautions against the unauthorized use, translation or decompilation of the "Software" and its associated materials.
  • You shall comply with all applicable laws (local and/or international), statutes, ordinances, treaties, codes of conduct and regulations regarding the use of the "Software".

Once set aside points #2, #4, #5, #6 and #8 (the latter being a pleonastic superfluous recommendatin) which are clear enough, we remain with points #1, #3 and #7.
#1 :You may not modify, rent, lease, lend, license, sell, enhance or pledge the "Software".
Since "to lend" can mean different things:
http://www.thefreedictionary.com/lend
it is possible that the act of letting another person use it is considered a breaking of the EULA, but then what sense does it make the possibility of freely redistributing it?
Like, here , I can give you this software (I am redistributing it) but I am not lending it to you, so you should NOT return it to me, nor should you pay anything to me for this.
#3 :You may not sublicense or permit simultaneous use of the "Software" by more than one user.
I wonder how, once the app was freely redistributed to a third party, one is supposed to check if the "Software" is used by more than one user.
#7:You expressly agree to protect and take the necessary precautions against the unauthorized use, translation or decompilation of the "Software" and its associated materials.
Is pure nonsense, HOW the heck one is supposed to protect something (that he already has freely redistributed) against "unauthorized use, translation or decompilation"?
Wrap it in a protection? ;)
But that it would be a modified version that isn't allowed. ;)

To sum up:
the EULA is mostly nonsense ;), but it does not prohibit the use of the "Software" in a Commercial environment.

No prob.

I would like, if it's not a secret of some kind, of course, about a today "Commercial" environment needing/using DOS, just out of curiosity.

i'm using win98 boot image, and working in dos because lots of computers (pentium III and pIV) doesn't work well with gui environment live WinPE (it stop or it gives bluescreen) and gparted its the same.

Because of that i work in a full dos environment and everthing now works like a charm.

I just use gparted and winpe environment for new computers.
