Those who read the last time posts carefully, will understand:

Since a while I'm known as a 'non-cooperative developer'

And therefore I don dot want to let the forum endure me.

Right now I'm stopping the work in developing of WinBuilder. The current source codes are stored in the WinBuilder SVN, and maybe Nuno will give access to coopereative developers like L*.

To nativeEx:
  • All current scripts will remain at the known URL.
  • Programs like e.g. Reg2WBS will remain at the known URL, too.
  • But they only remain. Support is stopped and they never will be changed.
This decision can be reverted, if some people change their mind from 'In this forum I give the rules how to work' to 'Would be nice, if you implement ...'

@jacklaz

you are a carelful reader, here is the long version of the story:
post 1487 i write my excited results of wb rc1 tests. Also rc1 worries about "copy Warnings" and a suggestion to Peter and a request to Pedrole15.

continuing to 1488 1489* finding new thing --> a mini "event about mmc" than peter "as usual" opening a new topic here which i replied with a post 2 introducint my further decion and reasons. After that peter keep continously attacking me, but i do not respond due to forum rules and self-respect, instead I keep notes at post2 of this new topic to remember things going on..

Well, this is totally a childish story ;).

I guess a few people (besides me - that got up at 3:30 this morning ;) ) need a good night of sleep.

At first sight I can't see anything in either Lancelot's or Peter's referenced posts/threads warranting or even mildly justifying such harsh reciprocal reactions. ;)

If I wasn't tired, as I am right now, I would probably BAN both of you for one week, just for the fun of it :) - and for the breaking of Rule #12. :) (hey, we are talking about overreactions, aren't we? )

But since I wouldn't have the energy to manage the uproar of protests from other members, I propose a time-out.

Can you get some good, sound rest in the next 24 hours (normal time, not latin mediterranean) off the board, then come back so that we try and discuss the issue together?

I'll close the present thread up to monday night, see you both on Tuesday.

As promised, Ladies and Gentlemen, Welcome back to this re-opened topic.

Just to comply with Rule #12 I asked Wowbagger (the infinitely prolonged):
Biography here:
http://hhgproject.or.../wowbagger.html

Some more info here:
http://www.boot-land...?showtopic=8062

And an excerpt from the original book:
http://www.wowbagger.com/chapter1.htm

some help and he was kind enough, and exceptionally (and mainly due to the fact he is conducting an unusually boring existence), FOREVER, to change just for today his standard routine and insult a couple of human beings out of strict alphabetical order, thus:

Lancelot?
Lancelot the turkish member on boot-land involved in LiveXP?
You are an obnoxious little pricker, a totally brainstorming PITA and evidently a slightly stoned tripper.

Some dictionary reference:
http://www.urbandict...?term=obnoxious
http://www.urbandict...hp?term=Pricker
http://www.urbandict...e.php?term=pita
http://www.urbandict...php?term=stoned
http://www.urbandict...hp?term=tripper

(please note the coincidence of the acronym with the known, exceptionally good turkish food)

psc?
i.e. peter?
psc the german member #3 on boot-land and until a few hours ago the main developer of Winbuilder?
You are a pretty much finicky crippler: you are also after tripper.

Check the English meanings:
http://www.thefreedi...ry.com/crippler
http://www.thefreedi...ary.com/finicky

http://www.thefreedictionary.com/also
http://www.thefreedictionary.com/after
http://www.thefreedi...ary.com/tripper

With some English-German False Cognates:
http://german.about....ry/blfalsef.htm
http://german.about..../blfalsefRZ.htm

OK. ;)

Now BOTH of you have been PROPERLY and FULLY insulted ;) , and thus have an actual reason to feel offended. :)

I already banned Wowbagger for infringing Rule #7:

7. You are expected to be mature when discussing in threads. Racism, pornography, threatening, profanity, or excessive vulgarity is not tolerated. :) This community is built upon mutual respect. You are not allowed to flame other members. People who do not respect personal opinions and/or personal work will be warned in first instance. If you ignore the warning and keep on flaming, you will be banned without notice.

So, everything is cool from an Administrative point of view.

Besides the little fun that I hope the above has produced  , I wanted to make an example of what I personally think is the actual origin of this (again AFAIK) little dispute, the language barrier.

Please mind you that I do not need/want/am entitled to act as a judge in a fictional psc vs. Lancelot or Lancelot vs. psc litigation.

Everything here represents my personal opinion and is to be seen as the advice I would give to old friends, like I consider both of you.

Lancelot, please read this:
http://www.viskom.oe...bel/babel3.html
(French, English translation via Babelfish):
http://babelfish.yah...TrUrl=Translate

psc, please read this:
http://www.biblegate...=GENESIS 11:1-9

BOTH, please read this:
http://en.wikipedia..../Tower_of_babel

Now, if according to both Hebrew/Christian and Muslim traditions (and to some earlier civilizations too, like the Sumerian one, and even in some supposedly at the time separated American cultures) the Almighty Creator of All Things used this trick such a long time ago and instead of a more "common" one like a flood, a pestilence or whatever else, it means that it is pretty effective.

A few thousands years late, it appears like still working allright, as demonstrated by this otherwise inexplicable quarrel between you.

:(

I do hope that you both will be able to forgive each other. You are both valued members. Peter, you do a fantastic job with WinBuilder and nativeEx. Lancelot, you do a great job with LiveXP. But cooperation is difficult because of different languages and I think that is the main issue here.

Regards,
Galapo.

When I wrote this post, maybe I've been a bit over-stressed from the quiet weekend ;)

The sence of this topic is completelly contradicting to my usual ingeneer's thinking.

Why to stop working for more than 25.000 users, if I have troubles with 0,004 % of them?

Better way is 'Work successful with the other 99.996 %'

I think it is really enough now!

A post I wrote as 'staff' has been silently edited.

No remark about edit, no name ...

And that to tell the world about a bug which is allready fixed since two weeks.

I think that the 'staff' area is to tell some important facts, not to let personal emotions run uncontrolled.

Maybe it is really the best for me to have a break of ???

@Jaclaz: Maybe you can explain that at least in the European Union it is a criminal offense to change somebody else's text w/o authorization.

To reference for others:
Staff note is here: http://www.boot-land...?showtopic=8225

First orginal staff note:

There exists a REG_MULTI_SZ key

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\BootExecute

which is read by any process during PE boot.

If the key is empty, (Hex(00 00)) nothing happens.

But when the key is missing, the 'any process' uses the default value

Keep an eye on winbuilder versions since bugies sometimes repeat themselves, this is first reported as wb077rc1 bug "hex(7) values are 00 00 00 the value is not written on the reg" at post 1489

Okay...

After about a year of constant learning, i decided to become a more active member in this forum, since i feel i can contribute now. Here i am, logging in, to see this kind of Trash every day?

Ban me if you think im out of place, but from what i've read:

-PSC seems to have a "I am Superior" complex.
-PSC believes people are modifying his posts because we think he is wrong.
-PSC believes that people think he is an ass.

This, i believe is mostly due to the fact that there is an issue with the English to German(PSC?) emotion transfer(Or any other language). As with any language, transference of how you feel usually gets stripped out. Just like mobile text messaging. Im pretty sure that the accepted why of trying to circumvent this issue is by using "smileys".This works if everyone reads the smileys.

I am sorry PSC, but i am going to take Lancelot's side here. He has documented everything that he has done/stated. All i see from you is A Lot of complaining.

I would be VERY Sorry to see you go, especially since so many useful scripts have come from your hands.

I was an IRC Moderator for a long time, and this happened between the mods. This kind of non-sense TORE APART the whole IRC network we were building and caused a lot of seg-faults due to sabotage, and network splits due to shutdowns.

PSC, in my professional opinion, you have two options here:

Leave, and quit making a huge fuss in every comment,
Or,
Realize your shortcomings, and fix them.

As for others, instead of modding his posts, why not submit suggestions for him to mod the post? I know he argues (i have seen it), but how would you like it if other just randomly modded your posts?

Sorry guys, but i am annoyed, and i have not even been dealing with it very long.

are you guys nuts ?

As every one here should know Peter is a lousy english speaker - he admits that himself and it is no secret at all.
Every one posting here should know that by now.

And what do you do ?
You start nit-picking and hair-splitting on his posts ....
Shame on you.

Read between the lines - assume Peter tries to be friendly and value his efforts to even post in english.

Personally I rarely visit this forum because I think that too many script-writers are blockheads - in my humble opinion Peter is NOT one of those.

Sorry for the rant - as I am a native german speaker like Peter I felt that it was necessary

[codebox]I would be VERY Sorry to see you go, especially since so many useful scripts have come from your hands. [/codebox] I do not deny the fact that he is a great developer. In fact, i'm very happy he has made the scripts that he does. if he did not, winbuilder, and pebuilder would not be where they are today, im sure! Also why he has the "Guru" title! I can't say that i like the way he goes about responding to people(again, language). This is *my* __ONLY__ issue with him, as i am sure he is a very nice person. Also, just because i am a native English speaker, does not give me the right to be mean. There are issues on both sides, which simply need to be worked out. Im sure PSC feels something like "ive put in so much time here, and i get this treatment?!" and others feel "so what?"... but these make neither side right. The internet seems to have a way of making people angry, and blurring lines. would you act like this in real life? The answer is an obvious "No." And with that, i hereby wash my hands of this conversation.

I should have asked Wowbagger (The Infinitely Prolonged) to insult Nuno for his utterly senseless idea of the Staff member. ;)

I'm even more annoyed, having been dealing with it for a longer time, no need to express how much with your post you contributed to this feeling of mine.

Even if it was, which I seriously doubt, I don't think it would apply to a "generic" Staff account. (which is the basic "stupid" idea).

Of course not, he intentionally decided to change his career, self-reducing the income of his family, in order to get a degree only in order to (please choose one):

I'm back to to fullfill board rule &12 and have fun!

I enjoy to see how many time of members this topic 'dema :) nded' ;)

I got to know, that I should just have see the logical contents of posts, rather than to process them emotically.
I am crazy when I allow some people to control my personal reactions and emotions by using certain methods or sentences.
And I have the possibility to ignore what I want. ;)

[German]Wenn alle das täten, was sie mich könnten, käme ich den ganzen Tag nicht zum Sitzen [/German]
For the case that the translator has some difficulties, look at Wikipedia for "Götz von Berlichingen".
Sure: No violance, no pornography, no aggression, no rassism. Just the famous "Johann Wolfgang von Goethe"

(See first sentence)

Peter :)

and have in mind that you haven't even seen how does these people look like, right? Not even their face! The impersonal character of web makes misunderstandings. Mood is not clear. It is not only the language issue. It is also the difference in countries cultures.

for example
the way Billonious talks may be normal for a french guy, gentle for a turk, annoying for a greek, typical for a german and so goes on... Babel ;) ;) :)
