The biggest introduction in the world, I know.
But seriously, I need to know how to boot a full XP on either a 8gb dual layer DVD or a USB. At this point I really don't care which. I've tried BartPE, among many others, and this. The last one was the most successful and useful, but I need a different method.
I've looked around thoroughly for a different method and came to little avail. My biggest and only found hope so far is this: ETboot

And here's the punch line: I need a 64-bit version to run. I swear this can't be done.

Be careful not to swear a false oath as there might be some project that will disprove your above statement ...

I'm not sure, but I guess that there is no 64-bit version of ewf.sys available ...

I would guess there'd be come major differences with a 64-bit version using ETbook. And no I haven't tried it yet. Either way, there's no way to make it write data to the disk (it's read only), so that makes my whole idea void. Unless there is a way...

USboot... isn't that extremely dangerous?
If it's the only and last method then I will try it. Oh, and I also read this in the quickstart.txt:"...If you want to write protect your USB storage device you will need 'ewf.sys' and 'ewfmgr.exe' of Windows XP embedded SP2 (or newer)..."
Will the 64 bit ewf.sys and ewfmgr.exe be the same as 32? USBoot looks like it supports a 64-bit as there's a "win64" folder in the rar ready to use, but does it?

Actually and just for the record, BOTH the ngine.de tutorial and the USBoot method by ...Tim... derive from the same "root", the findings of Dietmar Stoelting:

and they are essentially the same, though of course the USBoot.org method is semi-automated and is easier to create, besides having a number of added features. I cannot see what you can find "extremely dangerous" that you did not already "risked" using tubo's (ngine.de) tutorial.

The project by Dhilip89 is called ETboot, NOT ETbook, and being CD based is obviously read-only, just like will be ANY method intended to go on "a 8gb dual layer CD DVD".

Generally speaking, having a Full XP read-only is a further step, so my personal advice is to explore before the possibility of using a USB device, either Flash or HD, for a read/write system.

The x64 user base is very little when compared to "normal" 32 bit one, and I guess that USBoot is your ONLY possible way out at the moment:

Ah, thanks for the corrections. When I said dangerous I meant damaging the memory stick somehow. Thanks for the clarification. I've heard that USboot can even work for multiple computers with the same installation. =D
I just hope it works.
Sorry if I sound like a noob, but do any of you have a redirection to the XPe x64 with the 'ewf.sys' and 'ewfmgr.exe' files? And if it can't be said here, perhaps a PM will suffice...

Edit: There is no x64 version ewf.sys. Rumor has it that it will be released somewhere between 2009-2010. I'll use something different till then.
