Was astonished to see a new post in the CD-Opera thread, since i didn't get an email.
After checking, i have to say that all my subscriptions are gone. :whistling:

Do you remember to ask me of removing you from the automatic subscription some time ago?

I needed to manually modify your account settings on the mySQL DB to remove you from receiving any emails, this might be a side effect from this modification.

Since we both share a great knowledge level on mySQL (:whistling:), I'll try to figure out why and how it can be solved but this might also mean receiving our newsletter once in a while..

I asked you, to make it, that the 'subscribe to topic' is not checked by default, when i answer.
And this worked fine.
I did however never ask that all my subscriptions get deleted and don't think you ever did! ;)

Oh and no change. Still CD-Opera is the only topic i'm subscribed to according to my control panel.

@Nuno
Would you please make it that 'Enable email notification of replies?' is disabled by default for me again.

You're giving me a lot of work, behave yourself or I'm going to start a new section on the forum called "MedEvil".. :whistling:

I've restored back the option to not auto-subscribe but I'm still clueless on where to find a solution for this case.

If you google for a possible solution then I might be able to try it out but at the moment my time is being devoted to other tasks. You can google for "IPB", "subscriptions", etc.

Why am i constantly (re)directed to the chatroom?

This happens when you use a link to a page that isn't found, please provide more details as which page you were trying to see and if the error 500 page was also appearing, etc, etc.

You mean you wanna start a hall of fame? ;)

Thank you.

but I'm still clueless on where to find a solution for this case.

Would it be possible to completely delete all my subscriptions including the ones i only sort of have?
Then i could at least resubscribe.

No page error today for me and the pages i wanted to go to, do exist. I would just have to go back to the page i came from and click the link again to get them.
Maybe i get the chatroom instead of error pages? ;)

Will try to find where these settings are kept within the database and let you know how things go.

Sometime ago I've added a custom .htaccess file that would route all unknown links back to the chat page outside boot land to work as an alternative communication point when everything else fails.

For example: http://www.boot-land.net/MedEvil

Sorry, can't do much. Guess that this feature comes by design. Maybe in some future upgrade the forum developers may be gentle and remember to fix such logo feature.

In the meanwhile, I solved this challenge for my own avatar by reducing/expanding to the forum default size and this way about any further rescaling that often ruins the image.

I now have had the Chat Room Alternity
This solution is real Bulls***
Instead of seeing my good old friend '500' and just clicking the 'refresh' (maybe 70 times) I now have no chance to refresh and must try the original URL again (and that 70 times!)

I agree: it seems a bit counter-intuitive to have chatroom appear after having typed a reply and hit 'add reply'! I wasn't sure what was happening and then noticed that my post hadn't been added.

Galapo.

The chat room modification as been set up as it is for months now as never was a worry before.

The only difference at this precise moment is the dramatic simultaneous visitor increase on some portions of the daytime that is putting a lot of pressure on the server resources required for running mySQL.

Don't worry. I'm looking for a solution to this matter.

Instead of seeing my good old friend '500' and just clicking the 'refresh' (maybe 70 times) I now have no chance to refresh and must try the original URL again (and that 70 times!)

When this happens I click on the "Go back one page" button to move back onto the previous page and click on "Preview" rather than "Post" to avoid double or triple postings.

A bit of patience is required, for the moment there is little more that can be done for better work conditions which should be solved within the next days/weeks with some luck.

I think your assumption is wrong.

Some minutes ago I again came automagically into the Chat

And (just a second later) the next trial to go to the forum was successful.

111 users!

Much less than usually. So the load of the server could not be the reason of the trouble.

Also need to consider how many bots were also probing winbuilder.net or any other sites using the same mySQL DB.

Currently these are:

http://boot-land.net (mkportal)
http://boot-land.net/forums (IPB forum)
http://winbuilder.net (e107 CMS)
http://nunobrito.eu (e107 CMS)
http://aerostudio.boot-land.net (wordpress blog)

The forums alone are responsible for 90% of global usage but the other sites might also be attacked from time to time.

A spam bot (with a single IP) can also force the opening of several pages and try multiple simultaneous attempts to find flaws on the internal forum security, this is very easy to script nowadays.

On the server stats I see several increases of CPU peak usage around 400%~900%.

This is a fact that surely hogs the server to malfunction for some people while for other everything works (occasionally) well.

----------------

There isn't much else to be done other than wait for them to get bored and find some other host to play with.

We can always write a message post saying: "Please stop trying to spam our sites!" :whistling:

Other than that, let's hope that better server conditions can soon be found to keep all members (including the infamous spam bots) happy.. ;)
