Dear all,

I have managed to create a USB boot device for my HP DC5800 (yipee). It works as intended, connecting to the network etc etc.

However I would like to add network support for the DC5700 and the HP 6710b (laptop), and this is were i am stuck.

I have tried the Broadcom drivers for the DC5700, those did not work, I then did a search on the internet and discovered it might be an Intel card, so I tried those.

I came across another website (Barts) and tried creating a bootable USB from there, but alas I was unable to get it to work.

I think all I need is a different PROTOCOL.INI and .DOS driver for each of the network cards, would that seem right? if that is the case anyone know how I can achieve this as the methods I have used do not yield any workable results.

Many thanks in advance.

David

You are looking for a network driver? What do you want to do? LAN oder internet?

I recommend you to learn how to setup DOS networks in VMware (learn VMware before with an more easy operating system such as Windows XP). Because in VMware you have a working network card with existing and working drivers.

In your real environment it isn`t sure that there is a network card driver. In the end you have no clue if you did set up the applications (like arachne) correctly or if the network card is not working. That`s why I recommend to learn first how it`s basically working so you can preclude other errors.

To find out the real name of your hardware you can try to use aida16, nssi, configdt and hwinfo.
Hope that helps.

Hi,

I have managed to resolve this myself.

I indeed needed to change the PROTOCOL.INI and NETWORK.INI.

I now use a menu to decide which NIC to load, which then copies and uses the correct files needed for said PC/Laptop.

Thanks for everyones assistance/help.

Cheers.

David
