Hi again

To day i want to tell very easy way to make your favorite themes in XP.hope you
will like it.

Windows XP uses file ...\WINDOWS\Resources\Themes\luna.theme as default theme.
lets take a look at this file.
Copy luna.theme from address above to your desktop and open it by notepad.Now i
am going to describe some parts of this file:

---------------------------------------------

[Theme]
DisplayName=@themeui.dll,-2017

Note:you can write here (after =) your favorite name for example "MyTheme" that
will be shown in Display properties,theme window (see 01.png in attachment).
---------------------------------------------

; My Computer
[CLSID\{20D04FE0-3AEA-1069-A2D8-08002B30309D}\DefaultIcon]
DefaultValue=%WinDir%explorer.exe,0

; My Documents
[CLSID\{450D8FBA-AD25-11D0-98A8-0800361B1103}\DefaultIcon]
DefaultValue=%WinDir%SYSTEM32\mydocs.dll,0

; My Network Places
[CLSID\{208D2C60-3AEA-1069-A2D7-08002B30309D}\DefaultIcon]
DefaultValue=%WinDir%SYSTEM32\shell32.dll,17

; Recycle Bin
[CLSID\{645FF040-5081-101B-9F08-00AA002F954E}\DefaultIcon]
full=%WinDir%SYSTEM32\shell32.dll,32
empty=%WinDir%SYSTEM32\shell32.dll,31

Note:Here are places that tells to window to use which icon for My Computer,
My Documents,My Network Places,and Recycle Bin. And also tells the place of
icons.

-----------------------------------------------

[Control Panel\Cursors]
Arrow=
Help=
AppStarting=
Wait=
..
...

Note:In this section we say to windows to select witch cursors for mouse
actions ( for example the cursor of wait time and else),and some other
information that we do not need to talk about them here.
------------------------------------------------

[Control Panel\Desktop]
Wallpaper=%WinDir%web\wallpaper\Bliss.bmp
Wallpaper.MUI=@themeui.dll,-2036
TileWallpaper=0
............
.............
Note:In this section we say to window to select witch picture to desktop
and the address of that picture.and also some other informations that are
not important for our tutor.
-------------------------------------------------

There is other sections to talk,but I am not going to detail and jus want
to say fastest way to make them.
----------------------------------

Now it is time to make our theme,so do as steps below:

1).Make or Select Your favorite icons for My Computer,My Documents,My Network
Places,and Recycle Bin (Full and Empty), and put them in a folder for example
"MyTheme".

2).Make or Select Your favorite Cursor for mouse arrow,and mouse wait time and
else,then place them in "MyTheme" folder too.

3).Make or Select Your favorite BMP picture for desk top and place that in
...\WINDOWS\Web\Wallpaper directory.

4).Place folder MyTheme in address ...\WINDOWS\Resources\Themes directory
(see 01.png in attachment).

5).Rename the copy of luna.theme to MyTheme.theme and open it by notepad and change
that as bellow:
Note that i show just placess that you should change.and also i consider that
you have put itemes below in your MyTheme folder (see 01.png in attachment).

01.ico for my computer icon
02.ico for My Documents icon
03.ico for My Network Places icon
04.ico for Full Recycle Bin icon
05.ico for Empty Recycle Bin icon
A1.ani for Mouse wait
A2.cur for Mouse arrow

And i consider that you have placed xxx.bmp in ...\web\wallpaper directory.
####################################################################

[Theme]
DisplayName=MyTheme

; My Computer
[CLSID\{20D04FE0-3AEA-1069-A2D8-08002B30309D}\DefaultIcon]
DefaultValue=%windir%Resources\Themes\MyTheme\01.ico

; My Documents
[CLSID\{450D8FBA-AD25-11D0-98A8-0800361B1103}\DefaultIcon]
DefaultValue=%windir%Resources\Themes\MyTheme\02.ico

; My Network Places
[CLSID\{208D2C60-3AEA-1069-A2D7-08002B30309D}\DefaultIcon]
DefaultValue=%windir%Resources\Themes\MyTheme\03.ico

; Recycle Bin
[CLSID\{645FF040-5081-101B-9F08-00AA002F954E}\DefaultIcon]
full=%windir%Resources\Themes\MyTheme\04.ico
empty=%windir%Resources\Themes\MyTheme\05.ico
......
.......
[Control Panel\Cursors]
Arrow=%WinDir%Resources\Themes\MyTheme\A2.cur
...
....
Wait=%WinDir%Resources\Themes\MyTheme\A1.ani
...
........
.
[Control Panel\Desktop]
Wallpaper=%WinDir%web\wallpaper\xxx.bmp
..
....

Note :In this section for this example delete
"Wallpaper.MUI=@themeui.dll,-2036" line
if you don't your favorite wallpaper (xxx.bmp),will not be shown

####################################################################

6).Now copy MyTheme.theme (you just finished making it) to:
...\WINDOWS\Resources\Themes directory.

All are done! if you select MyTheme (see 01.png in attachment),the
system will show your favorite theme by your icons.
ofcourse there are more things to do here,but find them yourself.

you can download files made for this tutor (exept xxx.bmp)from attachment

Never thought that styles could be edited with a simple text editor like notepad.

This is cool info! :lol:
