Hello,

in 2006 I built a XP-BartPE-CD.... and I was able to insert an auto-eject for the CD-Medium after I shutted down / rebooted the Livesystem

Is there a possibility in VistaPE for this???? I didnt find it.......

If anyone could help... it would be great........

Hi

the bartpe + ubcdwin used shutdown.exe /reboot /eject command

http://paraglidernc....ns/shutdown.htm

I think this is also nice to have in vistape

i will test this and i try to build script to build this into the startmenu.

regards

steel

Okay,

after having posted this in 2007, I am asking this again:

Is there meanwhile a possibility to realize an autoeject-funktion after that VistaPE shuts down?

BS Explorer 2.0.0.1 can eject CD during shuts down, this version included in VistaPE v.12, but i not test eject function... why you can not eject it manually? :)

Hello NightMan,

surely I CAN eject it manually..... but I am going to build a Live-CD with several commercial programs and also data that is not meant for everybody.... the thing is:
If the CD would eject automatically I will be "reminded" to take the CD with me, after having worked at someone's workstation... so the thing is:

I must not forget the CD in the PC....... :tabletalk:))

I know, that with BartPE-Builder an auto-eject-function works..... but I want to use Winbuilder and VistaPE........

well, after small play with it its looks like standard cdTray open dont want to play under PE ) but i find other funny way to open it under pe :D
we have old utils call eject.exe and i take it compile in to me.exe, check drive name and open it :D
in attach you will find one cdo.exe just put it in windows\system32 or to own super dir in PE.iso and from console just type cdo.exe

Check it and let me know.

Btw about the script, hmm i dont have idea about this maybe we dont need script to add it to PE just test if its ok we can play with script :tabletalk:

Cheers

For the record, VBS should work as well:

And these ones are as well worth a try:

Okay, when I run the ocd.exe in HOST-System my CD-Drive ejects.... but that could not work in VistaPE, because the OCD runs from CD, or do I not understand right?

no no no
i write cdo.exe and now its working under PE :tabletalk: tested on VistaPE 2.0 from USB stick.
If you include cdo.exe to boot.wim its will be start from RAM so its will be ok.

Add it boot.wim and check.

This is very true - already lost count how many times I've forgot about the CD on the drive after working on some machine somewhere.

This would be a good feature indeed!

Okay.... I will try a little bit........ but I know that I am not good enough to find out that..... I' m not a programmer.... just a user.....

There are these buttons "shutdown" and "reboot" in VistPE-Startmenu...... I think they are in "Explorer-Vista-Shell-Script"....

But I think that I can not do that..... it is a little bit too difficult for me..... but I will try.....

Hello,

I am sorry but the shutdown.exe does not work..... I copied it to "programs-folder" in "boot-partition" (RAM)...... made a shortcut to desktop..... the pc shuts down..... but no eject.....

Did I understand something wrong? I tried it with Virtualbox, VMware (with a real CD) and at my host-PC with a real burned CD........

Okay.... it is a notebook.... could not try it on a desktop-pc........ I also think that the problem is, that VistaPE shuts down "too fast".....

It did not work. The System shuts down after a few seconds.... but the CD does not eject..... on the other hand.... when executing your CDO.exe separatly the CD ejects......

A question: What did you do with that shutdown.exe? I just have to copy it to somewhere in ram, make a shortcut and execute it, or not?

No no no.... forget it...... I T W O R K E D !!!!!!!!!

super, thank you.... so the shutdown.exe worked.... now how do I realize the restart?
And how would it be possible to use different icons (the red and green ones) for my shortcuts?

Then I would be really really happy.....
