Yes, something strange happened the last days ...
Always the server was overcrowded and it was nearly impossible to see a page.

But that does not explain your broken link. We also have a new download server, and the link you want to use propably does not exist any more.

On the other hand: The nativeEx_barebone.zip decreased from many files to currently only latest WinBuilder.

I suggest, to download WinBuilder beta5d (the latest which is in my opinion rather bug-free).
I put it to my server (and hope that I'll hold it actual) as http://www.psc.boot-.../WinBuilder.exe

Thanks again, Peter.

I'll try starting a download now; and see what happens...

@psc:

Hello again, Peter.

I downloaded WinBuilder from your link (above).

I downloaded all of the default selections from the WinBuilder interface for the complete nativeEX build.

However, I couldn't build the ISO successfully: Both WBVerify.exe and HoJoPE.exe threw fatal errors and crashed WinBuilder (I tried building without WBVerify; but didn't dare to remove HoJoPE from the compilation process).

So, nothing to work with yet . . .

Just to make sure: that contains
  • nativeEx_barebone
  • nativeEx_core
  • Tools (of nativeEx)

Please post the log.

@psc:

Here's the logset for my attempt to build nativeEx with your copy of WinBuilder.

Yes, I did include:

* nativeEx_barebone
* nativeEx_core
* Tools (of nativeEx)

WBVerify error log:

Generated by psc program 'WBVerify' version 2.0.0
Date: 2007-Jul-02 09:19:22

[Counts]
Missing=0
Obsolete=0
Errors=1
Warnings=0

Errors:
"Missing support program. Please click the 'Download' tab and download the Tools directory from updates.boot-land.net"

(don't know what it's looking for here; I downloaded all of the items which you specified in the WB build)

2 HoJoPE errors, as reported by Doc Watson:

There also seems to be a problem with memory leaks; as I was required to turn on my pagefile for HoJoPE to carry out its operations (the program took well over 100mB of RAM to execute).

In addition, the build was missing 7za.exe, mkisofs.exe, and qEmu.exe.

So, in the end, no ISO was produced . . .

Thanks again, Peter; and let me know when you have fixed your copy of WinBuilder so that I can redownload it from your directory :1st:

In addition, the build was missing 7za.exe, mkisofs.exe, and qEmu.exe.

That is just what veryfy is telling

"Missing support program. Please click the 'Download' tab and download the Tools directory from updates.boot-land.net"

You are missing the tools content from the main server.

BTW: As long as verify shows an error, it does not make sence to try to build the project.

The DrWatson output does not help much.
I need the log.html of your build. That shows me the arguments passed to HoJoPe.exe and tells me something about your system.

In my system with XP SP2 German and missing tools (like you built the poject) HoJoPE runs well (Of course, no ISO, too)

BTW:

Thanks again, Peter; and let me know when you have fixed your copy of WinBuilder so that I can redownload it from your directory

  • That is not my WinBuilder. It is one of the betas Nuno published. I copied it to my FTP server that you can find it easily, rather than to search anywhere in the middle of the 'WinBuilder 071 Beta topic'
  • WinBuilder.exe 071 beta5d is truelly not responsible for the HoJoPE crash.
Peter

EDIT: If you try again to produce the log.html
It is necessary to have the same 'fresh conditions' like in the first trial.

You must manually delete the nativeEx Temp and Workbench directories.

SERVICE POST

I made "Doc Watson" info "codebox", to keep the post readable.

@Squid
When you need to post anything more than a few lines long, please either:
1) zip the file and attach it (HIGLY preferred)
2) use the codebox syntax.
EXAMPLE:
[codebox] This is some text1 This is some text2 This is some text3 This is some text4
This is some text5
This is some text6
This is some text7
This is some text8
This is some text9
This is some text10
This is some text11
This is some text12
This is some text13
This is some text14
This is some text15
[/codebox]

@jaclaz:

Didn't put the text into a code box b/c it was an error message -- I'll make the adjustments to my posting style.

@psc:

WinBuilder seems to have produced no log file of any kind in its directory tree.

Hi,

Run your project and then open up the log window - inside you'll find the option to save your log to disk as log.html

Have all files been download? - even the ones inside the tools folder from the main server (where liveXP is placed?

This folder just seems to be missing here - it's where you find qemu, mkisofs, 7za.exe....

@Nuno Brito:

Thanks for the info.

Got the logfile for Peter to look at (attached).

And, I'll redownload the stuff; this time with the "Main Server" Tools folder as well.

(Didn't know that this was necessary when building nativeEx; as it sets up a Tools folder of its own...)

Hope this helps. Again, HoJoPE seems to be grabbing MONSTROUS amounts of RAM during processing -- 100mB or more.

Rather startling . . .

Thanks.

Got the logfile for Peter to look at (attached).

  • the way how it works seems ok
  • but HoJoPe generates some wrong results (e.g. building txtsetup.sif)
Because HoJoPe had never problems with English Xp SP2, I assume corrupted source data.

You seem to use CD E: as source. Try to use a local copy.
If there are some read issues on the CD, Explorer usually copies some wrong bits.
So to make the copy you should use IsoBuster and extract from CD.

I did not see an huge increase of used memory. That seems for me to be a side effect of the data problem.

@psc:

Thanks, Peter.

Did what you said; but I'm still having trouble at this end :1st:

I'll presently be breaking our conversation here out to a new thread and discuss it with you over there (didn't seem to make sense for me to continue so far off the original topic right here).

I'll come back and post a link to this new thread for anyone who comes 'round after this is all done :thumbup:

See you soon!
