My images don't get any smaller after deleting. When I view the WIM in 7zip there is a [DELETED] folder generated in the root that is rather large that I can only assume is what is causing it. Unfortunately, DISM mount doesn't seem to mount that folder, and I can't find any information about it on the internet. How can I remove it?

Yes, WIM is a database, files are not deleted. They are marked only.

Use another approach: create a new image insead:

Dism /Export-Image

Export dosn't export the [DELETED] folder. It's missing at new image.

I need the /Export-image option of dism to leave only a single edition in my Windows 7 wim file. Unfortunately the WAIK version of dism doesn't support that option and I don't believe there's a way to strip out unwanted install editions using WAIK's dism.

I absolutely hate that M$ doesn't provide these essential tools in a smaller download. I just need dism out of the 8.1 ADK!

Does anybody know how I can produce an install.wim for a specific edition only from a multi-edition version without all this M$ download overhead? Something I can do quickly or easily?
