Good (which actually means bad , I hope you payed anyway a fair price for the 8 Gb).

The "standard" procedure in these cases is to analyze the stick wjth 3 (three) softwares, the data they can get needs to be compared as sometimes one of the three is "better" than another.

You want:

Comparing the output of the three you should be able to get not only the Manufacturer (Alcor in your case) but also (usually) the actual controller chip.

Then get (in your case of an Alcor chip) to the relevant Files page:

Here begins (often) a hit and miss game, it is sometimes not easy to decide which tools to test, a good rule of thumb is - besides reading attentively the info available on that page - start with the "simplified tools" (if any) and with the "info" ones.

Consider that - though there is not or not always available documentation about this - that most if not all the available tools are intended (or at least were designed, or however are used in "factory") EXCLUSIVELY on XP and on XP 32 bit.

There are serious risks to EITHER botch the OS (if the manufacturer tool needs or installs automatically a "specific" driver) OR to botch the stick for good (because of a conflict of any kind with UAC or *whatnot* in Vista or later).

This does NOT mean that those tools do not work or do not work properly in Vista or later or on any 64 bit OS, only that it would not be particularly "smart" to risk botching the OS or the stick.

If you have doubts, try asking BEFORE doing something that you may later regret.
