how to install vista from usb hdd??

ive tried to install vista from a usb hdd following this tutorial http://www.otgnet.co...=all,Title=3764
but my usb hdd doesnt boot from it (mobo boots fine from usb)
can anyone help me??
also another thing...is it possible to install vista on a usb hdd and run vista from different pc´s?

Some USB bootable motherboards seem to like FAT12 or FAT16 over FAT32 for booting. A fairly good utility is DriveKey from HP http://www.pctipp.ch...ds/dl/32594.asp
I haven't seen WinPE2 or vista running off of USB yet. I expect WinPE2 to work but Vista itself is a loooooongshot. OSX can do this but, that's a different story
I think the best shot you have is to create a standard USB WinPE and try to run Vistas installation from there.
I use this utility to get my WinPE onto a USB stick:
