They found a rock the size of a football on Mars. And a rock the size of a house is hurtling towards us.

Oh how I wish it was the other way round!

It's not I'm scared, it'd conjure the image of a martian kicking too hard.

Edit:It wasn't my intention to be fore bearer of not-so-good news.
I just mean, I wish the house was on Mars, and the ball flying past us, buddies.
That's the funny part. some kid on mars kicking his football too hard.
:P (I didn't want to cause a panic)

Even if a rock of half the earth's size will touch us next weeks / days, I do not want to be informed about that.

I have a fullfilled and happy life and do not want to be afraid for something that cannot be prohibited.

Just let the rock come unannounced and then > finish.

Naa, nothing like that!
I think they ARE a house, the kid kicked the ball out the window, flying past Mars.
Now they're probably going to land here and buy one here.
They won't have the right money, try pay in Mercury Money, We won't be able to deal,
it's the son of the King of the planet, and they'll start a war.
I think it's gonna happen like that.
Always happen that way.

Mightn't be the son of the planet's king, but anyway it's not very good.

There's no point in being afraid now, we're safe.
The world will only end at the 21 of december, not before. The Maya said so! ;)

Does anyone find it strange that all this forum is based around is:
Working around the 'consraints' of the manufactures produced Bios etc (yes, I know.):
Which why it is the way was designed so long ago:
And yet the software (programs) can do so much.
Computing is in a certain kind of Infancy and has been for many years (my lifetime).

I guess its "Life on Mars" and a rant, but I feel its time to move foreward, Assembly will always be the base, So what ????
We should be able to control the machine at it's 'Base level' (interaction with hardware) after all it's only a machine' why should we accept Manufacturers adhering to what is expected and ,or ,required of them when if the base level is defined by major players even liux adheres to this. Maybe I'm talking out of school.

Woo, that's an offtopic just like I do them! Hehehe!
I guess Saddlejib the cause of lack of access is security. Ms is the most used,
so they need security. Other operating systems like the one which you mentioned
have the access to hardw. Mac is the least accessible in terms of mod. Well, it used to be,
don't know now. But even then i'm pretty sure people accessed whatever by hardware means,
but that is more electronics.
Anyway, if one's good enough, one can probalbly do whatever. I'm not. Idon't really wanna.
But some are dedicated, and  .

Start a new thread someone

You do!
(hehehe!)
;)

Btw, I edited my 1st post to clear a bit...
+, talking of security, and rocks, That rock-house whatever you want to call it could be a good test for
"older computers which were of better making". If that rock falls, Medevil's comp would be our last hope..
Then the news would be Dinosaur Computer Survives Asteroid. (his old computer, that is,he has a new one too).

But do start a new thread, it'd be interesting. :) Or carry on here.

Well stupidity tries to kill us for aons. Can't see why it should finally succeed this year. ;)

Else i hate DLST! Why can't people just go one hour early to work? Why do they have to screw with the clocks and watches?

Sure :), and having to wake up at 2:00 or 3:00 in the morning (actually night) to set the new time on all clocks/watches of the house.... :whistling:
Luckily you have to do that only twice a year.... :innocent:

Unfortunately my inner clock is more like a sundial. It' needs to be corrected with a sledge hammer.

I'd say stupidity and greed for the most part. Our stupidity is reflected by the root of all evil anyways; money.

I know, many people consider money the root of all evil. I object and say the root of all evil is fear.

Which, being fear largely provoked by ignorance, makes this latter the root of all evil.....

Of course in reality, the root of all evil is procrastination (and the internet), some (rarely found) honest words here:

I'd not agree with procrastination or fear. Governments don't do anything about the environment becuase it'd mean getting rid of oil factories basically. Oil and gas = <($¿$)>. It's the reason why the Electric car and the idea of it, even after a few were manufactured, was destroyed. Tesla had a way of gathering electricity from air, unknown to many, but his idea/invension is destroyed and lost as well. Who want's that? We've got expensive electricity power plants that we have to pay for instead to keep those employees working in those fields with work and income to support their own lives. How is any of this fear or a derivative of it? :dubbio:

We've got oil and gas which keeps those working in those fields... In their lamborghini's and mansions. We've got taxpayers buying smokes to support bad government decisions. What else? When you know where your money is going (a large portion of your income), money truly is the main core of evil. Anybody can do something about something, but what do we need for encouragement? Money.

(Just to mention we've also already gone off topic from "Life on Mars" :loleverybody: )

I agree, the internet is the root of getting nothing done. ;)

People don't embrace new things, because they're afraid, they won't work out.
Better the devil you know.

Funnily, if people have the choice between a steady and precdictable bad future and a very unprdictable future, they always choose the first. Feeling out of control scares people more than hell itself.

There was once a very interesting study done, in which people, from different walks of life, got asked to name the minimum amount of money, they would need per month to survive.

Result: The more money a person had from childhood on, the higher the sums they thought they needed to survive.
Rich people actually fear to starve to death, with amounts of money, poor people would call the good life!

Firstly, Tesla had no way to make energy magicly appear. He had a system to transmit energy wirelessly. Power plants are still needed for that.

And the reason it was destroyed was, acording to lore, that the user of the transmitted energy could not be billed, because there was no way to know who used how much of it.

If you can't bill someone, you have no income, without income you go broke, when you're broke your children suffer, ... FEAR!!!

Anybody can do something about something, but what do we need for encouragement? Money.

Wrong. What people need for encouragement is a reward.
And yes, we're trained form childhood on to accept money as a reward, but trust me, as far as rewards go, money isn't even a very good one.

Try it yourself. Buy your girlfriend/wife something nice, something she really likes as a gift and tell her that you spend ages to find just the right thing.

Next time, give her an equal amount of money and say you couldn't get bothered going shopping, you were busy with important things.

If you think, she will be happier the second time, you're dead wrong.

btw. The reward in the first one is not the gift, but that you show, that she is so important to you, that you spend all those resources (time and money) on her.

Same with kids.
Telling your kid that you're proud of it, does more to motivate it, than giving it all the money in the world and ignoring it.

Though of course in real life a kid will pretend BOTH being motivated AND all the money you can give him/her (and yes they know how to spend it, rest assured).

BTW, once said that Nicholas Tesla was most probably one of the real geniuses of all history of human kind , I have the feeling that AceInfinity tends to watch (and worst than that believe to :w00t:) a lot of "pseudo-scientific" TV/Internet - or at least he spends on it more time than on Physics studies. :whistling:
There is nothing (much) wrong in this, of course :), but the accent on "conspiracy theories" is slightly too marked to avoid my noticing it.

The sign of a true genius is, that he is so far ahead of his time, that only later generation start to recognize him.

This description fits only DaVinci and Tesla, imho.

Yep. DaVinci lived well and good, supported by popes and kings. Tesla could have been one of the first billionaires on earth and got a lot of money during his life, but wasn't exactly the type of person that saves money..

DaVinci did good as a painter not as a inventor/scientist.

Teslas bigget problem was simply, that his main goal was not to be rich, his main goal was to get all his fantastic ideas turned into reality.

The one story, i love about Tesla, that shows best, how he ticked is:
When asked by the military to invent a detection device for submarines, he delivered to them the RADAR to detect planes, which at the time noone even used in war.
Detection devices for submarines were too simple to do.

That would be the most flawed test ever conducted: You tell you're girlfriend that you had 'more important' things to do... *nods head*... What do you think she'll think about that comment on a personal note? Even without spoken.

Try this with somebody on the street now: Give them $1 000 000, or give them something of equal value. (Now depending on whether or not they are interested in the equal valued gift... They may like it, but not as much as being able to choose what this money does for them instead. Ironically though, who will do this? lol. Few and far between...

:whistling:

You guys are wrong for those assumptions. One of my close friends actually has a Physics PHD, and I did take physics courses for more than a few years in and after high school in University because it was my main interest of study at that time. If you understand charges & static electricity, magnetism, and electromagnets. It's possible to retrieve electricity from the 'air'. What do you think our North and South poles generate?

(We're actually overdue to have that magnetic polarity reversed btw... In which case could cause very catastrophic events on Earth.)

What MedEvil said is correct though, to some extent. You could bill a device of such, by just measuring how much you've generated and how much you've put to the load away from the machine itself as the source...

Why we don't do this though? He is correct again: People who make money from our current power plants would be out of a job, it's not because it is not possible. :) So why we don't have this or why it's not as well known? They don't want people to start making this a publicly used thing. You try to start a business that would potentially change the way's of a larger company, perhaps putting the oil industries out of business or anything with our electrical power plants that we wouldn't need to use anymore, because of some invention you created. They will stop you.

I've even had personal experiences with this that i've heard about from close friends. Mostly with a guy that I knew who had mentioned he recorded falsified data about oil and gas reports, coincidentally to find out that his house had been burned down fairly soon after.

I'll leave you guys to believe whatever you want though, that's not my concern. Although it's best to keep an open mind.
