Hello chaps,
I am using winbuilder 080 with LiveXP. I still cant get internet access on my usb thumbdrive build.I have located my motherboard AMD PCNET Family PCI Ethernet Adapter and when I run the myNic script (MyNic 2.2.6) my network card is a Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller and I make a SCRIPT PATH to c:\documents and settings\David\desktop\Livexp\Workbench\common\PeNetwork_drivers and can see in the files directory that I have:
DrvImpe_AE72.script
Rtenicxp.sys - I copied from windows\drivers\system32
RtNicProp32.dll - I copied from windows\system32.dll
The SOURCE PATH I use is to my xp cd on my E:\ drive.Sorted I think ....but no I still cant get internet.The ISO image will work on virtual when I access PENetwork but HELP!!!
I will leave my pc running all day (14-04-2012) and hope someone can tell me what's wrong.Thanks in advance

PS.In my first ever post last week I did not know how to use the forum reply properly so apologies to the two people who replied to my questions and received no reply in response.My daughter had to show me.....I must be getting old...........oh yeah I am!!

Then we can see whether it depends on your particular hardware, or there is a glitch in the LiveXP project.

Hello!!
I am afraid that the multipe build did not work.For some reason the system32 file HWpnp.exe was missing from the i386\system32 folder.In virtualbox the build worked a treat and I thought---YES!......after the CD build and boot I thought.....NO!I am going to make another CD with the missing file installed manually and will hope for the best.I still have some 20 CD's so I am willing to risk it.On the other hand I might be in the same boat in a while with only 19 CD's left.Thats life so Lets rock!!

Select Core > 6 - Core Apps > HWPNP
Or wait some hours until I upload a new version with many enhancements and fixes.
I some minutes ago built an UDF which booted fine and had interner access by Opera.
IMPORTANT: DO NOT WASTE CDs!
In your first post you wrote about USB. This will NOT work on CD, because the ISO is not writable!
If you want to have a "Writable" ISO, you must select "RAM Boot" as boot image in PEFactory. But that demands ImDisk to be installed.
Everything a bit complicated ...

To avoid unnecessary disappointments, here a Mini-Tutorial:
(Your first post lets me assume a physical source CD). Extract the content of your source CD to a local directory (Some people say, "path w/o spaces", but IMO as current WinBuilder programmer that is not necessary). Make all source files writable by using "attrib"
Define this source directory in the "source" tab
Tell the project that you want to build an UFD:
PEFactory > Choose "Create USB flash drive" in the "Target Result" combo box
Tell the project about your UFD drive:
PEFactory > Config > 6-Create Image > Create USB flash drive:
Click "Search Removable Drives"
Choose your UFD in the "USB drive Letter" combo box
Click "Rebuild now".
When WinBuilder gives you the control again (after some project changes) you are ready to start the project by the BLUE TRIANGLE.
Please do not worry about some license questions, just confirm. These questions will not appear again next builds.
There is a "security" question about formatting your UFD. Confirm that, too. It would not be wise to (what is a possible option) suppress the question.

Hi Peter,
If you see this you will know I have not got internet access.In virtual box I am laughing as everything is up and running.However on the usb flash drive I am out of luck.The only thing I can put it down to is that my usb netgear "card" is not starting up with the flash drive boot.In Windows it takes forever to kick in when booting up so (I really need to nuke the disk and start afresh).I will give this a go and let you know what happens.Thankyou once more for trying to help and I will keep you posted if I get anywhere! - you never know

Can you post a (zipped) log.html of the complete build anywhere?
Please set in WinBuilder:
Tools-button upper right > log with Debug option checked.

The reason of non-working internet access is easy: You do not have a network driver for the real world.
The easiest way is to add hostNIC to the PE. Then during boot hosNIC grabs the network driver from the host where it is booted from.
The bad thing is here, that the PE must be writable. To make the ISO writable, you have to put it in RAM and boot from there.
To create the RAM boot option, you must have Imdisk installed on your PC.

- In the project tree, select Core > Core Apps > System > hostNIC

You are not adding the driver in right way.You need inf file of the driver.Use a driver backup utility like double driver and make a backup of your NIC.In PEnetwork script point to the backup driver under driver integration tab.Hope this will help you.

Etc. etc.

I mean gas.Which is a lot of cd's.I cant work on the project tonight but I will get straight on to it tomorrow hopefully

Sorry for not getting back to you sooner but I am now back in action.I still cant get the internet but I have got to the stage with the build that it "plays" with no errors and it looks positively lovely when virtualbox runs the image.The only thing I can think of now is that the netgear usb card just wont play ball.I was looking on a Linux site where a chap was saying that there is no .inf file for a Netgear WNA1100 N100 wireless usb adapter so It wont run - period.This cheered me up a bit as I am really running out of ideas of what to do next.It makes my heart all warm and fuzzy when I think back to the good old days of my netgear pci card connected to the router by cable.....oh happy days!! Progress sucks...or am I just getting old?
