CHKDSK restart problem

First time I see that on my laptop,expresscard RAID 0 ,but I blame my modded BIOS and patches to be able to boot from.

Now I encountered same problem on my desktop.

For the moment I'll talk for the desktop problem.

PCI express card with SIL3132 chipset,latest BIOS,latest drivers.
Fresh windows XP install (ultimate SP3,tested with retail SP2 also).
Tested both variants,scheduled CHKDSK or windows detection of problem on NTFS files and run CHKDSK.

CHKDSK run fine but at the end hang at
"Please wait while your computer restart"

And after that CHKDSK wants to run at every start or restart of PC.If I let it run it hang at "Please wait while your computer restart"
If I skip by pressing a key then works fine until next power up or restart.

Problem is not related to hardware or RAID set.

Anybody with same SIL3132 RAID 0 experienced that behaviour?

How can I diagnose that?

• Are you shutting down/rebooting cleanly?
• Is there a disk filter driver installed?
• Is there a filesystem filter driver installed?
• Are new files on the filesystem persisting across reboots?

On partition of RAID is OS,win XP.

1. a. yes,and if try under OS to run CHKDSK it won't work (... disk check utility needs exclusive access ... Do you want to schedule this check next time you restart this computer?)
and after that if I not skip disk check at boot time it hang after finish at "Please wait while your computer restart"
After that CHKDSK wants to run at every startup.

1. b. Hard reset from button or forced power off from button,system detect uncleanly,as result CHKDSK is launched at boot and if I not skip it same result,hang at finish at "Please wait while your computer restart"

That is annoying thing.

On USB drive I have mini XP and windows 7 Live,from there I can run CHKDSK,all seems fine and after that CHKDSK doesn't appear at startup.
Until I hard reset or schedule a disk check at startup,then CHKDSK hang again at finish.

In fact PC is hanged,no keyboard activity ar any sign.
Seems like PC freeze when CHKDSK want to restart PC.

Good info! I've seen that using the wrong HAL can cause a failure to reboot. When you are running Windows after bypassing AUTOCHK.EXE (what you are calling "CHKDSK"), are you able to reboot the computer using the Start menu? Or does it hang while trying to reboot, before it actually reboots?

You might verify that AUTOCHK.EXE doesn't contain a virus, or even replace it from your Windows installation media.

My mistake and confusion of CHKDSK with AUTOCHK.
Restart (from Start menu) is working fine.

I think no virus.
Tested with clean,new install of one XP SP3 and with original XP SP2 disk.
Both with same result.
