File Category: Tools

NoDIni > No Desktop Ini.
Deletes the desktop.ini file in PE3 x86 boots.

Usually desktop.ini is created as the last step of explorer shell coming up. Then there is no real chance to delete the file.

NoDIni is started during the boot process (initiated in the project, e.g. by autostart).

Then NoDIni every second looks whether desktop.ini exists.

If it exists, it changes it's attributes to non-system and deletes it.

Then NoDIni exits.

If you use NoDIni in PE2 or PE1, where no desktop.ini is generated, it will run for ever!

desktop.ini is used to determine the visual aspect of the containing folder. What will we delete it for? I mean, what's the practical purpose of this tool?

in Peter's MultiPE I have a desktop.ini icon on the dektop when I start the PE ... I think with that tool this icon disappears?
Personally I do not want any icons on the desktop that I do not want to have/do not need ... and that was such an icon

Desktop.ini should be a hidden file. Normally Windows Desktop/Explorer does not show hidden files.
Use regedit and find HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersion set checked value to 2 - may fix it ??

It is intention that in the PE all files are visible.

Unfortunatelly desktop.ini is also hidden.

"Delete desktop.ini", ist just a checkmark.

Who does not want, just do not check!
