hi
i have a bootable debian 4g usb drive, i would like to make an image of this drive and allow it to be uploaded to another flash drive of the same size or bigger and have it bootable once written.
what i have managed to do is boot from the bootable debian 4gb usb and have used DD to copy the drive to a 2nd usb.
The reason for wanting to make an image is so i can give it to a friend who is not close to me and have him write it to his usb drive, which he can then just boot from.
using clone disk i have made a RAW image and also backed up the orig bootable usb drive MBR and boot sectors.
any help appreciated
bootable usb -> iso or other supported image -> usb flash drive

Sorry, but I don't get it.
You do a dd image of the whole "source" device.
You store this image *somewhere*.
You dd the image from where you stored it to the new "target" device (as long as this one is SAME size or bigger there are NO problems).
Only seemingly unrelated info (dsfo/dsfi are comparable to dd utilities):

Just copy your stick to another one, and make it boot-able. I am using this to put Knoppix on my stick.

If you have a Windows PC you can use RMPrepUSB USB->File and then compress the image with 7zip. Then send to your friend and uncompress and use RMPrepUSB File->USB.

Just check some dd tutorials on the net, it is very to use command. Linux and basic knowledge needed.
