My guess is that they were all bots attending a party since they were not accounted by the statcounter javascript and therefore crashed the party somehow.

If so, then being a member can be made mandatory to surf boot-land pages. Otherwise, enormous boot-enthusiasts will eventually choke the server bandwidth resulting in a poor response time for legitimate members.

If they become members willingly, its way better then forcing users to submit a form eventually, I couldn't resist posting the reply (had to register to get identified). Anyhow, daily few eggs will be popping out becoming new membersIf so, then being a member can be made mandatory to surf boot-land pages. NO.
This is an "open community".
People have all the rights in the world to browse the forums for as long as they wish before (and only if they want to) eventually registering as a member.
Nuno is also so kind (something that I don't personally approve of ) to keep a handful of bugmenot accounts "live" to allow people to access some downloads without bothering to register, as a further step to make the board "as open" as possible.
To be exact, my personal opinion is that the bugmenot accounts are OK, as long as they are easily distiguishable from other members, by means of a "bugmenot" flag, and/or easily identifiable names, like (examples) :
- Anonymous Coward
- BugMeNot Leecher
- IWontTellYouMyName
BTW there is no such thing as a "legitimate member", there is either "a member" or a "non-member" and NO "UNlegitimate members".

A few days back, Nuno removed a couple of members who were spammers in disguise . Though, they passed through the same registration process as other members, I personally do not consider them as "Legitimate"

Yep, life is tough, but how do you think that future members can find boot.-land if you prevent access to bots (like google or yahoo)?& the BOTS, too
Sure , and as a matter of fact they are "non-members" since Nuno "removed" them .A few days back, Nuno removed a couple of members who were spammers in disguise . Though, they passed through the same registration process as other members, I personally do not consider them as "Legitimate"

They were ILLEGITIMATE members for the tenure between "their registration process got successfully completed" & "they managed to make a couple of posts with a fake URL as their signature text"

I wonder what might be happening..

Almost every websites i've visited, provide external links for downloads these days but then forums makers became smart too, auto-removing links, then again link posters becomes smart by adding h**t:// (instead of http). Forum administrators are very greedy, making users to forcefully submit email address (which they spread to ad rascals) and then we receive those "Enlarging" messages!
I've created 2 special mail.ru email address (biggest spammers). Any one knocking their doors ends having machine gun pointed at them. Second account automatically retrieves + deletes all first account's mail(s) AFTER 1 day ONLY. Second email is set to automatically delete and empty all mails after 15 days. While the first account is only for public (forum, anonymous private emailing, etc) for personal matters i've another

Well, nice try , but unfortunately not good enough.
There are some slight differences that you seem like not having entirely got, I'll make you an example, I hope this would make things more clear .
Someone decides (or unfortunately needs ) to expatriate to another country.
- If he/she enters this other country "officially" using a passport and (where needed) an appropriate Visa, to the authorities of this country he/she is a legal (or legitimate) immigrant.
- If he/she enters this other country "UNofficially" without using a passport and (where needed) an appropriate Visa, to the authorities of this country he/she is an illegal (or illegitimate) immigrant.
This won't change the fact that if he/she commits a crime in this new country he will likely be sent home.
I.e. you can have:
- a legitimate immigrant behaving lawfully
- a legitimate immigrant behaving unlawfully (that is likely to be sent home or "banned")
- an illegitimate immigrant behaving lawfully (that is also likely to be sent home, but only because he didn't comply with immigration rules, not because he committed any crime)
- an illegitimate immigrant behaving unlawfully (that is likely to be sent home or "banned")
The cases you listed are about "legitimate members" (since they entered the board "officially" by registering "normally") that behaved "unlawfully" and were "punished" for this "unlawfil" behaviour becoming "non-members", NOT by someone who managed to by-pass the registration page and enter nonetheless the board as a (illegitimate) member, we are in case #2 above, and not in any of the other three.

Indexing bots are good, they ensure that we get listed on google and other search engines. The only bots we don't want around here are DDoS bots and typically, a bot intended for attacks will do a GET request and also run to Javascript to ensure extra pain on the attacked website.
So, my guess is that these bots were more interested in crawling content than anything else. Maybe within a few weeks we see a new forum surfacing like http://boot-camp.net with brand fresh topics about boot disks.. (small tip: if you visit boot-camp.net do circle the mouse around the women's picture on site..)

I've gmail, they did a very sick thing on my external pop email accounts. I did a setting in my gmail account to retrieve emails from other pop3 emails and gmail started sending spam to everyone using my external pop3 (they banned my pop3 saying use your ISP's pop3). I tell you, don't go on my words, do it yourself and get surprised.I only use gmail and have the same account for 5 years now. I redirect all mail in my other inboxes to the gmail one so I don't really need POP.
Yes. That is the problem. You need to disable the firewall and click yes on all questions that appear on your screen. This should work.Fortunately, There is a tiny problem with your plan, i've something called Firew-ALL installed (firing every women at my will)

Well, I wonder WHY you don't do some research before senselessly "hammering".

Answer is simple. 'Hammering' or 'criticizing' someone (especially Wonko) is far easier than finding out info on my own. Since it saves my time (which I'm really lacking in these days), it makes sense.Well, I wonder WHY you don't do some research before senselessly "hammering".
