You're worried about icons? Go waste someone else's time, and find something worthwhile to complain about. As long as the restart/shutdown options work then it is nothing more than a visual anomaly.

Possibly Related.
There is a known bug in Win7 .dll icon resources.
When it comes to certain resolutions or even video connections.
Search reboot and the oven for the failure.

I confirmed failure in a NativeEXWin7 build here.

There is a more definitive answer at theoven.
Sorry to be so vague.

@dsolomon: Impersonating respected members? Not checked.....If you actually take a look at my nick and think about it for a sec, it becomes obvious that I'm not impersonating Wonko the Sane. I make no claim to be him at all. Impersonation implies that you're trying to trick people into thinking you're someone/something that you're not. My avatar is obviously and intentionally different than his, as well as the description beneath the nick. I just happen to be very much opposed to many of his viewpoints.

As for being a dick and a troll.....check and check, if you want to perceive it that way then that is your choice. I cannot and do not make any attempts to influence others' points of view in regards to what I post. IMHO, life is more about how people perceive things, than what those events actually are. How we view things can make all the difference. As an example, you get into a vehicular accident that isn't your fault, and are seriously injured. You have numerous options. You can remain pissed off at the other driver for his actions, having a fucked up attitude toward everyone and everything from that point onward. Or you can forgive the driver, accept that s/he is only human and makes mistakes, and move on with life being generally happy and treating others as you would wish to be treated, accepting that hey, shit happens sometimes.

No disrepect was meant to you, I just feel that it's trivial to complain about something inconsequential like icons. And I'm not afraid to say what I think.

The accident you were involved in must have been a very serious one. :whistling:

hell of a text wall. didn't read it. looks like i just wasted more of your time. keep it coming. you'll be dead soon.

The difference between you and I is this.

You're a ''I got the lights to flash so it works. next project" kinda guy.
I'm a "Lights are flashing and everything is working 100% and everyone is happy" kinda guy.

Some may call it OCD.

I call it doing something right.

@the other Wonko: Nope, never been in a vehicular accident, I'm healthy as an ox and have all limbs and appendages. Was just an example.

@dsolomon: It's fine that you didn't read it. But a wall of text? Seriously? It's not like it was a huge run-on sentence, I did bother to split it into 3 paragraphs.

I do tend to move on to new projects quickly, something to do with ADHD and (undiagnosed) OCD. As long as the big stuff works I try not to sweat the details. My time is limited and I'm very busy, so I can't afford to dwell on particulars too long.

As stated, no disrespect was meant in my initial post, but I wont hold back my opinions. I don't recall calling you any names/insults. But since you only have things to say like "you'll be dead soon" (as if you wont die someday too) and "rekt", then I'll just call off the olive branch I was going to offer. And no, you're not wasting my time, I really do enjoy posting.

anyway, i forgot to mention in my initial post, not only are the icons missing from my shutdown and reboot optinos, when selecting either of these, nothing happens. the start menu goes away and that's it. it used to work fine a few days ago. I've changed something that winbuilder isn't digging. I am going to roll back and see if I can narrow down the exact issue of this. I feel it has something to do with classic shell and shutdownPE.

Will update thread when I find an answer.

If the restart and shutdown really didnt work, why mention it now? Why not mention it in your first post? Seems like really relevant info if you ask me. Then I would have been thought to myself "Hey, now that's a big deal, something worth posting about", and I wouldn't have replied at all.

Good, happy that wasn't the cause. :)

So another simpler example would be "start having a fucked up attitude toward everyone and everything for no reason whatever".

@ the other Wonko: There is no such thing as "for no reason whatsoever". Everything has a rhyme and reason, and happens for a reason. Whether we realize what those reasons are, well, that's a different story.

@Zoso: Who said I was an Internet tough guy? Oh wait, that's your opinion. Opinions are like assholes, we all have one. And don't go making broad generalizations like "also seems those guys are quite the opposite when face to face with them." I have no issues with backing up my words with actions if I must, but I will only fight for something I feel is justified.....reason being, if I'm going to fight, I'm most likely going to be trying to kill whoever it is. If I'm doing life in prison or being executed, then it had better be over something worthwhile.

do you have difficulties with reading comprehension also? i didnt 'say' anything, and i wrote 'seems' lol

FWIW i like your latest name change better, (todays one from "Wonko_The_Insane" to "Zoso_The_Internet_Fucktard") now I wont mistake one new post that may have some valuable info with a useless one.

thing about face to face, at least in your country, aswell as the land im on, is the tough guys know they aint bullet proof so it aint too often one runs across so many flat out abrasive comments face to face.

so "backing up my words with actions" is something I doubt is ever needed, kinda what i was getting at there. seems to me anyway.

so maybe relax and quit trolling yourself. let reason rule over emotions, its gonna happen anyway whether it be by our own reasoning or an outside influence.

edit: just saw you new signature line lol and quoting it here 'on and for the record'

Hi, my name is Zoso The Internet Fucktard, I believe that someone in particular is an Internet tough-guy just because they aren't afraid to state their thoughts, without fear of consequences or caring what others think about it. I can't tell the difference between this and and an actual tough-guy, or a troll, or a spammer, so I misstate my ignorance. I also believe that we all live in the Matrix, that 3-letter agencies don't exist, as well as numerous other whackjob conspiracy theories that most normal people wouldn't believe. Half the time my posts make no sense whatsoever to anyone except me, because I'm spouting some ridiculous nonsense bullshit that only I know the meaning of, and my grammar sucks balls hard.

To be clear: I am in no way *impersonating* @Zoso, I'm making it very clear now, just in case someone makes this claim in the future.

hey.. some folks believe in tooth fairies too. but this man here (what is real?) can prove in any court of law, that you "live in the matrix" (666)

some just dont seem too interested in knowing that info because they seem to think they know its not possible, for what ever reason. ;-)

Well, an example is just an example, but you seem like adhering strictly to casual determinism which doesn't take into consideration the possibility of free will (or of Acts of God) to exist.

dear god. what have i started.

anyways, I pulled the original classicshell.script and shutdownpe.script from the ovens win7pese package and my issue still persisted.

i just disabled classicshell.script and used the explorer shell.script. this ''fixed'' my issue.

Glad to hear dsolomon.
The topic I refered to was:
Bug: (Sometimes) black square in lower left corner of desktop icons --> You know where.
After you chimed in about:
"not only are the icons missing from my shutdown and reboot options,
when selecting either of these, nothing happens. the start menu goes away and that's it."
"(It seemed) 'Not so related'."
However, this quirk has been around since Vista days according to links above.
Good Job on your fix and also reporting it, Thanks.

Actually, I went back to the "Reboot/shutdown not doing anything" issue.

I had conflicting settings with shutdownpe.script and classic shell.script and explorer shell.script.

explorershell.script has a ''enable shutdown button'' option

classicshell.script has reboot/shutdown options for shutdownpe

and then shutdownpe.script has reboot/shutdown options.

anyway, I have cleared that issue up by ticking the correct boxes and unticking the incorrect ones.

If i use classicshell.script to get the start menu i am wanting, i still have the missing shutdown/reboot icons. but they work.

if i disable classic shell and use only the explorershell.script, all works but am back to this ugly big af start menu (see attached)

If i could get classic shell.script to have reboot/shutdown icons, life would be grand.

and i know. this is purely cosmetic.

BUT I HATE IT
