The Parted Magic OS employs core programs of GParted and Parted to handle partitioning tasks with ease, while featuring other useful software (e.g. Partimage, TestDisk, Truecrypt, Clonezilla, G4L, SuperGrubDisk, ddrescue, etc…) and an excellent set of info to benefit the user. An extensive collection of file system tools are also included, as Parted Magic supports the following: btrfs, ext2, ext3, ext4, fat16, fat32, hfs, hfs+, jfs, linux-swap, ntfs, reiserfs, and xfs.

This script adds as a "Multi-Boot" option the ability to boot into the Parted Magic OS. It requires the i686 version of the tool, since that is now a part of how the version information is extracted. It will process a local copy of the ISO, or if not found, attempt to download the file specified. Using the AU# file originally included in previous versions of the script, it will read the download page, and attempt to find the latest version, and download it (if not already present in the "cache" directory.

This means that if the file name is left blank, you should always get the latest version released.

If I may , Parted Magic is an ever evolving tool.
You should add info on the EXACT version the .script uses, as tomorrow (or the day after it) there will probably be a new version of PM.

Yes, this is true - it *IS* ever evolving.

This latest works with the 11-24-11, and "hopefully" will work for a while, since it looks like patrick has settled on a new numbering scheme and a new naming scheme for the bits

Great script! I got this to work with the 6.03 version but it seems like the newer versions are different inside the ISO... is that something that could be updated? Or would it require change the script all around at this point?
