Mindows Themes and a question

out.
By the way, for theme support, these files can be extracted from the win98 cd and added into \windows\system:
dskapi16.dll
dskapi32.dll
wildlb.dll
wl32.dll
Your also going to need these files from a copy of Plus! for windows 95:
themes.cpl
themes.exe
No regediting required, just drop them in and go. Its possible to use the themes.* files from the 98 cd,
however some icons dont appear right (my computer, recycle bin, etc)
I'm really trying to get sound out of this, but, for some reason (like my network cards) nothing is installed at setup time. Whats
worse, the sound catagory is completly missing. I've tried putting in all of the .drv and .cpl files that seemed to be for the
audio setup, but i cant get it working.
BTW, this is for a pentium 233-mmx setup woth 128megs of ram (60M for the ramdrive) and i cant use the livecd project (I still
need compatiability with dos)
Please, can anyone help me out here? I'm loseing my mind!

Probably you are referring to Win98LiveCD, but that is simply another project.
You don't really have to go the mindows way (very minimal) you can do an almost full 95/98 if you need additional features.
References are here:

Of course you will need to use EXTENSIVELY the Wayback Machine.
Remember that now we do have grub4dos mapping capabilities so that quite a bit of tricks can be added/used.
And that there are TWO ways to have a "minimal something":
- start with the bare minimum and ADD things
or: - start from more than what you need and REMOVE things

Should you need/want to have a look at "donano" (still unfinished, of course) just say so, I may be able to dig up a copy of it.

I've seen those threads before. Helped me to get the network portion working (Extracting all the files from precopy1 and precopy2, point
windows add hardware "have disk") to there. The problem with the sound setup is, even tho my soundcard (non-pnp sb16 scsi) has
the correct drivers installed (shows up under device manager correctly) it shows up as device class "MEDIA" not "Sound, Video, and Game
controllers" in which case win98 refuses to believe it even has a sound card installed
Its worth noteing that on the initial setup, during the non-pnp detect that it complains that an inf file is missing, tho ive tried more then a dozen times copying over the min98 folder and the \win98 directory from cd. All from a blank harddrive.
Wonko the Sane: I'm trying mindows for now. If i get reall really desperate, i'll look into into some of the other ways, but that will probably
entail me losing even more sanity then i already have

P.S.: Just in case here is my archived copy of donano, donano3.zip.

Unfortunately, as I suspected, it has not any provision for sound, so it may only be useful to see what is NOT connected to it.
