Hi teachers,
I found the "X" in HBCD\XP\ of "Hiren's BootCD.iso",
Maybe the "X" is originally the "winnt.sif",
And this is the content of it:

Maybe if there was a \ISO\Hiren'sBootCD.iso then it would be loaded as a virtual CD when it boots to miniXP?

Thanks!
But I try to delete the "/iso=\ISO\Hiren'sBootCD.iso",
Seems no any problems after.
And I can not find any CD drive change in My Computer after deleting the "/iso=\ISO\Hiren'sBootCD.iso".

It would depend on how you are booting the ISO?
Since you gave no details whatsoever, it is hard to comment!

Booting the ISO in a VM would (should) be the same as making a CD and booting that.
So loading the .iso file (which does not exist inside the ISO!) would not work anyway.
What you would need to do is copy the ISO file to a USB drive at \ISO\Hiren'sBootCD.iso
and install grub4dos
and make a \menu.lst containing
title test Hirens map /ISO/Hiren'sBootCD.iso (0xff) map --hook root (0xff) chainloader (0xff) boot
If Hirens boots to miniXP OK and you get all the desktop icons and utilities, then it has worked.
If some desktop icons/utilities are missing then it has not worked.

Doesn't Hiren's offer the choice to make seperate individual ISO's from the XP and the se7en "Live" type OS's? Could that path have anything to do with that scenerio?
Maybe not.
