About 10+ years ago I was working on an android app that you could connect to your home wifi and pxe boot (technically bootp, not pxe) a computer connected to home router via ethernet.  Around the same time my daughter was born and my priorities shifted and although I had completed the concept app and it worked great, I never did complete & publish it.

Note: This was back when I beleive Gingerbread was the primary version of android out.

A few years later I found an androind app called servers ultimate..Really greatproduct IMO. Although it was admittedly complex setup process and required root privledges but once it was done, it was good and using the app I was able to create & configure a DHCP & a tftp server to perform network booting (I actually posted a comment on the dev page requesting a pxe server and a few months later they actually added a pxe server to package :D).

Although servers ultimate is a good product IMO, its  not very intuative and the fact it requires root access reminded me how I wished there was some typeof PXE specific app out there that made the configuration quick and easy.

Fastwforward to today...

I had some coworkers last week talk to me about the possibility of setting up a pxe server at their homes to learn more about windows imageing & deployment and it reminded me of the app that I was working on many years ago and I though how it would be awesome if someone had finally created an app for PXE booting.

I did a quick check in the appstore and but didnt see anything promising and figured I'd check in here to see if anyone knew of an android app out there that could provide bootp/pxe like services without ROOT access or know of  a way/method to host a service on android that can run below port 1024 without rooting android?

I'm so excited to find out about this app that doesn't require root access. I'm a big fan of Android and always looking for new apps to make my life easier. I'm sure this DHCP Relay App for Android will be a great help for a lot of us.  I'm interested to know more about it, like what features it offers, how easy it is to set up and configure, and if there's any additional cost.

I think your idea of a PXE booting app is still a great idea, and I'm sure there are people out there who would find it useful. If you ever get the chance, you should definitely look into creating it. Also, I'd like to suggest checking out https://smartengines.com/, where you can find technological solutions for software creation and perfection. They have an awesome suite of AI-based products that you can use for developing or improving mobile applications. It's definitely worth checking out if you're looking for something more sophisticated.
