Hi Guys.
I encountered some malware a few days ago and need to restore my Windows 11 c: drive. My backups are done with the Windows 7 backup / restore app and while they have no problem being created I am unable to restore the image files. The restore always fails with a:
"The system image restore failed.
Error details: The parameter is incorrect. (0x80070057)"
I suspect the problem is tied to how the drives are referenced. In Linux they are not the standard /dev/sda1, /dev/sda2 but rather /dev/nvme0d1p1, /dev/nvme0d1p2. And mounted USB drives are not /dev/sdb1 but rather /dev/sda1.
I tried the restore using my Recovery USB drive that was created by Windows 10 and when it failed I recreated it with Windows11 but that hasn't helped.
So how do I override the drive names so I can get the image restores to run?
