I recently stumbled on Winbuilder, I've been using Misty PE for a while, but I noticed the ability to add your own programs from PortableApps through Winbuilder.

It seems the project is obsolete and no longer under development. I'm only interested in the GUI version not the command line version, which I downloaded as WinBuilder 082. All the tutorials and related files give me page errors, and none of the project files download from within WinBuilder, and it just asks for a proxy, and never downloads anything. It only shows vistape.net/project, and even that doesn't download.

Does everyone in here using WinBuilder just have all the files for themselves from years ago and there is really no way to use it for anyone who just downloads it in 2022?

I'm most interested in a fully functioning winpe/winfe that look and functions like a full windows desktop, hopefully with a start menu, or the ability to use PortableApps as a start menu, or even just the ability to easily add my own stand-alone portable apps and run them from a GUI, added to a custom menu or right-click menu, without having to manually add or edit registry entries or anything like that.

thanks for any info

MistyPE is normally built with Winbuilder or PEbakery, both of which are GUI programs, but what you are looking for is actually a recent/current project to build a WinPE, the actual builder is irrelevant, assuming you are going to use 10 or 11 as base OS, check (which BTW uses Winbuilder as builder):

Thanks!

That one worked. Are there limitations in "Adding Custom Folder"? I dragged my entire folder with all my stand-alone tools and apps which was several GB, to the "Additional Files" folder, but it didn't add them to the ISO. Does it have to be in the "Program Files" folder?

Also, can you explain "Open ISO Root Folders", can I just put all the various other tools' ISO files alone in there to have them appear on a list of bootable options at start up along with the Win10XPE boot option? are there any other files I need to create to have the other bootable ISOs appear at the same time, or do I need to put them into individual folders or anything?

Thanks for the help

Also, any idea why that winbuilder doesn't have Pstart as an apps script? Has it been replaced by simply putting all the portables in the Custom Folder under Program Files?

I don't know, most probably you need to change some settings besides adding the files, Winbuilder is a builder, it does (more or less) what you tell it to do, the project is the set of commands/directives and set of scripts fed to the builder, usually projects come with (working/tested) presets, but if you want "more" or "different" you likely need to modify some parts, set some options, etc., i.e. even if it is a "simplified" building environment, there are a few mechanisms that you need to become familiar with in order to be able to have it working.

There are a few "generic" guides, but for specific questions on 10XPE you will probably find more info and support on the board I cannot name[1] or on tenforums.com
