I've looked and haven't been able to find the answer.

Can I use GRUB4DOS to run a dos .exe file??

How about a .uha file?

If so, HOW??

I am a grub newbie, please be gentle with me....

Why not using a Freedos boot disk instead?

It is quite fast to boot up.

Yes you can and no you cannot.

A .exe file normally needs an underlying Operating System to be executed.

It is possible of course to write a executable program that needs not an OS.

For the latter, you can use a specific "loader" bootsector and chainload this bootsector through grub4dos, but it's a CATCH22 here, if you were able to write or use such an executable you would have not needed to ask about it.

So, most probably you are referring to a "normal" .exe, if this is the case, you can use grub4dos to load the underlying OS, usually some flavour of DOS, or FreeDos or a minimal Linux, execute the program, then, through grub.exe re-load grub4dos.

If you post some details I can give you more advice. :tabletalk:

Well,

For example, I have HardDrive Regenerator which makes a bootable floppy with the .exe on it, or I can make it into a Floppy image.
I use that utility alot and would like to add that to my grb4dos menu, but since I don't know what I am doing when it comes to grub4dos, it has been a struggle.

Yes, but then what you need is to learn how to chainload a floppy image with grub4dos, which is a completely different question from the one you asked.

Read here how to add a floppy image to a grub4dos menu.lst:

Of course, you will need to "tailor" it to your needs, I mean, on which device do grub4dos and floppy images reside, type of floppy images, etc.
