I try install WinXP to disk image over SAN. My host machine is also WinXP. For test use MS VPC2007. Try like this:

  • integrate WinVBlock drivers with nLite to xp.iso (WVBlk32.sys and AoE32.sys from Sha0)
  • in VPC create VHD disk 2300MB
  • boot vm with this disk from win95 boot floppy disk and make one primary, active partition with fdisk and format c: (FAT32)
  • boot vm Debian with this disk, make RAW image forsan.img with dd tool - Link and transfer over SAMBA to WinXP machine
  • make with the same way other dummy.img image 1500MB for WinXP install
  • mount forsan.img with OSFMount tool and copy on this: xp.iso, grldr and menu.lst
  • with BOOTICE tool install GRUB4DOS in MBR image forsan.img
  • on host OS run vBlade AoE server with forsan.img
  • boot vm from iPXE, config network with dhcp net0 and sanboot aoe:e0.0

PC boot, runs GRUB4DOS and successfuly map /dummy.img (hd0) and map --mem /xp.iso (0xff), WinXP Setup start but display error:
