"installing" the syslinux is the least of the problems, AFAIK it is just a matter of copying the appropriate syslinux.efi to either EFI_SYSTEM_PARTITION/EFI/BOOT/BOOTX64.EFI or EFI_SYSTEM_PARTITION/EFI/BOOT/BOOTIA32.EFI

The trouble might be how the USB stick is partitioned and formatted, like MBR or GPT?, single FAT32 partition?, etc., IMNSHO the U in UEFI seemingly is for "Unlike unified" and different firmwares are re-known to behave differently and as well differnt OSes booted from the stick may behave differently depending on how the stick is partitioned/formatted.
In order to (hopefully) receive better assistance/help you might want to describe your setup (what USB stick you have handy, which OS you are running, etc.) and your final goal (what you wish to achieve through the use of syslinux, etc.).
