Having booting problems on ISOstick for Toshiba Portege models.

Mainly the R930 and R830 series. I've tried most of the suggested

methods but still no joy. I'm on the latest firmware v1677

However once the notebook has booted, windows have no problem

recognising it. My ISOstick is confirmed working as it has been sucessfully

tested on another Fujitsu SH761

I also own a Zalman ZM-VE300. The Toshiba Portege models work beautifully

with this.

Any suggestions on what else I can do ?

Please excuse my delayed response.

What is the BIOS branding and versions on the R930 and R830?

Do they simply not see the isostick, or does it give an error when trying to boot from it?

Thanks for the information.

What ISO is loaded into isostick's CDROM when this happens, by the way?

Very strange indeed.

Even though the Zalman works, I wonder if this is somehow related to Secure Boot on these laptops. It's a long shot, but if possible can you disable Secure Boot and try again?

When using the Zalman, do you have it in ODD-only mode, or dual mode?

Hi Hawk2xl,

Just to let you know that I also have exactly the same problem with my Toshiba Portegé R630.

I'm experienced with boot disks and tried different types of normal USB sticks before trying with ISOstick as last option but so far none was accepted by the sttuborn machine. Ended up trying the LAN boot option as documented here: http://reboot.pro/to...-mint/?p=178572

For the record, my laptop is from 2010 and has no secure boot as far as I can tell.

Secure Boot is not an option on the following models (with BIOS version as listed in prev post)

Toshiba Portege R830

Toshiba Portege R930

Secure Boot is not an option on the following models (when CSM mode is selected ie it's auto disabled)

Toshiba Portege Z930

ISO's in Zalman can be booted sucessfully in both ODD and Dual Mode

Hi Nuno

Thanks for the suggestions. Still able to use my Zalman to boot but was eager to use isoStick as it's

smaller and more portable. Hopefully the problems can be ironed out soon.

Intresting observation, initial testing of Yumi MultiBoot seems to be work
