This is an example Inno Setup 5 script for my concept of "personal apps". Personal Apps are installed into each individual users account and are uninstalled from there too. It is best suited to convert portable applications. The benefits in bullet point form:

* Individual installations so user can retain preferred settings
* If installation gets corrupted other users are not affected
* Since mostly only portable apps work with this technique there's inherently less registry clutter
* Less clutter in Add/Remove Programs as uninstall is provided individually

As usual my programs may add irresponsible levels of MSG into your egg drop soup. Seems to work with XP and Inno Setup 5.1.13

I have successfully converted these portable/clean programs into "personal installations":

Portable DeepBurner
Foxit Reader 2
IZArc2Go (Portable IZArc)
Portable Firefox
Portable OpenOffice 2.2
Portable VLC
uTorrent

It may sound silly to make a portable application back into an installed program but..

Just take IE as an example. When Little Timmy downloads the wrong plugin or lowers the security settings it effects Mom, Dad and possibly Big Brother too. If Timmy had his own install to mess up (I mean, use to his own tastes *cough*) then only his account would be affected. Sadly, IE6 EOLAS (a pretty portable IE6) doesn't work well enough to be a personal app..

Also, when I use portable apps I have a worrisome choice when I go home from work: Do I cancel the portable program so I can take my iPod home or do I let the project continue and have no music for the weekend?
