Hi everybody ,

Has anybody tried this WIM Managemen Tool ? It is called SWIM .

It is freesoftware and about 57.5 MB in size . Compatibale with Win2003 / Vista32/64 / win 2008 / win7 / win7 x64

SWIM description:

SWIM is a functional UI for capturing, editing, and applying (including disk partitioning, formatting, and marking active) WIM images. SWIM allows you to capture, restore, and mount WIM (Windows Imaging Format) images. It will also partition and format hard drives with ease. Give SWIM a try to fully assess its capabilities!

Check the website here :

http://www.secretweaponsystems.com

Downlowd :

Any comments !?

Thanks

Hi @khalil@,

Thanks for your contribution.
Tested in xp pro, working well apart from Apply button.
Tried on 7PE64, not working and popup showed that imageManager.exe error.
Thinking that 57.9mb is worth for mount/unmount/edit partition only??
Might be DISM gui tool is worth to try, i reckon.

Ok, i'm new with this all

But why is it impossible to make a complete working win7PE with only the WAIK?

I don't get it to work with this version and with the Win7RescuePE.

Can anyone help me with this?

Thank you in advance.

Simple and short answer. That is...
WAIK has no explorer shell. And we are based on only it.

Thanks your question.

you can not ;) But be sure yahoouk and others still working hard on this goal.

Multi7PE is a frontier project, it is not easy for a new user to start with. My advice to you is spending some time with Win7RescuePE project and than come back here to see what is new at frontline. :cheers:

I will take a look at the win7rescuePE project. My only problem with the win7pe project is I could never get the explorer to load the box would always reboot on the 32 bit. I was seeing some screen shots of what looks like 64 bit works alot better. Does the 32 bit work in the RescuePE Project?

It works very prettily.
Take your time and read much more as possible as you can and you will soon become an expert in few months.

This is mine screenshot. First i want to add somethings and after want to ask another things. I build with winrescuepe i wrote to else subject sorry but didnt see huge differences.

1-) Why the files and reg hives are encoded in scripts? Do you afraid somebody steal it? If they want they can easly
2-) From clean build boot process is very slow. Why? Because winpeldr builds same every icons at boot (shotcuts can be build one time in profiles folder at build) and imports a 15mb huge file to registry (also it can done by scripts) Shell loads after winpeutil driver install progress (In dart 6.5 you can slect to process at backgroud, shell opens first and progress service and driver load at backgroud) Now my winpe boots 3 times faster then original after all that crap removed

Anyway my questions is
1-) i see double icons in control panel?
2-) Any way to fully work control panel options? Most of all i want control panel network and sharing. I have most of services but it says it needs a service.
3-)Sometimes i see double folders in root directory of drives at explorer (can be a connection with dart tools conflict.
4-)Usb flash drives not automatically connect??? Need drive mapping. After shell restart i can see flash disk. i want see automatic (i can restart shell with peshell) Peshell uncompliance is a big looose because of winpeldr

@vvurat

as far as I know, here are some answers.

I build with winrescuepe i wrote to else subject sorry but didnt see huge differences.

WinRescuePE based on yahoouk's win7pe project (now named Multi 7PEs) which serves more to new users (kebab). Multi 7PE is a frontier (core) (hot core :cheers:) project which has additional features written on topic latest posts. It is a base project under process when yahoouk finds time. (If he can find time :cheers:, (@yahoouk, thanks a lot again)

1-) Why the files and reg hives are encoded in scripts? Do you afraid somebody steal it? If they want they can easly

Nothing hidden, you can easly extract with winbuilder and read with notepad. Purpose of using reg files is either making build faster or writing some unsupported values.

4-)Usb flash drives not automatically connect??? Need drive mapping. After shell restart i can see flash disk. i want see automatic (i can restart shell with peshell) Peshell uncompliance is a big looose because of winpeldr

Try using a utility like mounstorpe, it **may help. Mounstorpe can stay in tray and map when new device connected. (Explorer refresh maybe required, good luck)
try this script directly
http://livexp.boot-l...ountStor.script
or extract utility and use manually.
Good luck.

(shotcuts can be build one time in profiles folder at build)

I %100 agree, probably yahoouk focus on more serious tasks when he finds time.

Some more :cheers: :cheers:

Network sharing can not be done through Control Panel

Mapping and sharing drives can be done using PEnetCfg or PENetwork

Hello everybody,

I have a strange problem with the sortcuts creation:

My config:

host OS: Windows XP SP3 x86
source: Windows 7 x86 Ultimate DVD
Winbuilder [0.78 SP 6]

I have two PC at home:
- desktop: Asus P5B based
- laptop: Acer Aspire 4100

When i boot 7PE.iso with VirtualPC, everything works fine. But when i use USB stick, i got different results depending the machine (hardware) it boots on:
- On my laptop PC, everything works fine and all shortcuts are ok
- On my desktop PC, all shortcuts (desktop & start menu) related to the %cddrive% variable are not created (others are ok)
I precise i have this problem with both BSExplorer and Windows explorer
My USB stick drive is mounted, it appears in the disks list and i can perfectly browse it with a file explorer

Has anyone else had the same problem ?
Many thanks

yes, it is a win7peldr bug

workaround
add this script to your build:
http://nativeex.w07....rtcutsEx.Script
and add this line
FileCopy,%TargetDir%\Win7PE.cfg,%BootTMP%
to the '\Projects\win7pe\Finalize\3-postconfig.script' to the [PackBoot] section
e.g.
FileCopy,%TargetDir%\Win7PE.cfg,%BootTMP%
DirMove,"%targetdir%\Program#$sFiles",%BootTMP%
etc. _linenums:0'>[PackBoot]Echo,"Preparing boot.wim..."DirMake,%BootTMP%<strong class='bbc'>FileCopy,%TargetDir%\Win7PE.cfg,%BootTMP%</strong>DirMove,"%targetdir%\Program#$sFiles",%BootTMP%etc.

In post 22 yahoouk says
Please wait a while, I'll let you know soon,

I did not find an answer

SO In Win7 64 if there is a way to disable auto network search?

How do you mean "auto network search"?
I have not tried to build x64 7PE yet,
but what i can see:
in '\Build\2-config.script' there is an attached file called: '7peldr1.7z'
in this attachment there is the file called: 'peldr.bat'
this peldr.bat launched before the shell loaded (via winpeshl.ini)
i suppose should to edit this peldr.bat

When Win7PE 64 is booted

it Auto - "Processing Hardware Installation"
next - "Success! Now netDrivers Installing wait!"
then "Successfully installed Net Drivers!!"
then "Do you want to start PENetwork?"
and PENetwork auto launches

I found it in 2-Shell & Config attachments ........ i would like to disable this for test builds

you can disable all
commenting out the line:
//TXTAddLine,"%TargetDir%\windows\system32\winpeshl.ini","start.cmd","Append"
in the script '\Build\2-Config.script' in the [Win64] section

or edit the 'peldr.bat'

I am using the package update from POST 94 Hot files down load

I also am using JFX WoW script

and most if not all the little fixes in other post

I have some luck with icons, I added a VistaPE patch.script and it added SOME of Computer Managment in start menu

In explore shell icons are coded out, comment out lines 61 - 79,, and i have Computer - Device Manager - Networking icons on desktop

When programs scripts are added they are not copied over unless Run from ram is selected
When booted you have
X: Program Files
and
X: Program files (x86)
If run from Ram is selected then programs are found in X: Program Files
no short cuts

,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
no short cuts

Actually 64bit version doesn't support shortcuts but
at the moment, you can add shortcuts manually in shortcuts.vbs script.
This will appear like following.
set WshShell = WScript.CreateObject&#40;&#34;WScript.Shell&#34;&#41;

set ShortCutLink = WshShell.CreateShortcut&#40;&#34;X&#58;\Windows\System32\config\SystemProfile\Desktop&#34; & &#34;\Avira.lnk&#34;&#41;

ShortCutLink.TargetPath = &#34;X&#58;\Program Files\Avira\AntiVir PersonalEdition Classic\avcenter.exe&#34;

ShortCutLink.WindowStyle = 1

ShortCutLink.Hotkey = &#34;CTRL+SHIFT+A&#34;

ShortCutLink.Description = &#34;Avira&#34;

shortCutLink.IconLocation = &#34;X&#58;\Program Files\Avira\AntiVir PersonalEdition Classic\avcenter.exe&#34;

ShortCutLink.Save

set WshShell = WScript.CreateObject&#40;&#34;WScript.Shell&#34;&#41;

set ShortCutLink = WshShell.CreateShortcut&#40;&#34;X&#58;\Windows\System32\config\SystemProfile\Desktop&#34; & &#34;\HDDScan.lnk&#34;&#41;

ShortCutLink.TargetPath = &#34;X&#58;\Program Files\HDDScan\HDDScan.exe&#34;

ShortCutLink.WindowStyle = 1

ShortCutLink.Hotkey = &#34;CTRL+SHIFT+H&#34;

ShortCutLink.Description = &#34;HDDScan&#34;

shortCutLink.IconLocation = &#34;X&#58;\Program Files\HDDScan\HDDScan.exe&#34;

ShortCutLink.Save
shortcuts scree shot.
