Hi all,

I installed win7 64 bit on iscsi target success, but when install done and then reboot, It always hang at win logo then BSOD (0x7b).
Machine is Virtualbox, and I try boot on VMware, still got same result.
I also try don't use SATA controler but only IDE or SCSI, failed. I try disable LWF too.
My boot script:
#!ipxe
dhcp
set gateway 0.0.0.0
set keep-san 1
set initiator-iqn iqn.2014-09.com.ipxe:test
sanboot iscsi:192.168.1.101::::iqn.2013-09.com.iboot:win7

I have no idea for BSOD, can someone help me?
Thanks very much.

Hai,

        windows doesnt like it 100 mb boot partion on iscsi disk. Usually win7 doesn't allow you install in iscsi target expect cetain server verison. YOu can see it microsft site. But you shoul fake it and make it think it resides in pysical drive. First create iscsi target with server 2008 and boot it with ipxe and attach it fail and boots windows 7 installation. While choosing partion for installation select iscsi, but for boot partion, select fixed disk. It will work like a charm. Then copy this boot partion of pysical disk to iscsi partion. thats all it will not show bsod. It will still think it reside in pysical drive.

This might not be clear but you can understand.

Hi pazhanii,

I boot to wimboot then launch Windows installation. I can success install Windows on ISCSI disk, but can't boot into OS, always hang on loading disk.sys/classpnp.sys. I check ISCSI server side log, it shows ISCSI connection no response then auto disconnect.

Your reply was for https://support.micr...n-us/kb/2345135 ?

Thanks.

That link was useful. But I found this by trail and error. only two methods were successful for me . The one I stated and the other was installing to vhd in normal usual way than copying that vhd inside iscsi target vhd then create boot files and link using easybcd soft. This two method were successful for me. It tried booting win pe than installing but it failed as you faced.
