Giveaway of the Day - Shadow Defender 1.4.0

about 3 hours left till giveaway is over

http://www.giveawayo...adow-defender/#

:1st:

Shadow Defender - puts your PC in Shadow mode, alternative to (Deep Freeze or Toolwiz Time Freeze).

*'Shadow Mode' redirects each system change to a virtual environment with no change to your real environment.

*Shadow Defender can run your system in a virtual environment called 'Shadow Mode'. 'Shadow Mode' redirects each system change to a virtual environment with no change to your real environment. If you experience malicious activity and/or unwanted changes, perform a reboot to restore your system back to its original state, as if nothing happened.

With Shadow Defender, you have the flexibility to specify which files and folders are permanently saved to the real environment. This ensures important files and folders are kept after a reboot.

Shadow Defender is an easy-to-use security solution for Windows operating systems, that protects your PC/laptop real environment against malicious activities and unwanted changes.

Key features:
  • Optimal State - Configure your system exactly the way you want it ONCE and run in that optimal state at all times. No need to spend the time removing unwanted files or trouble shooting and eliminating unwanted PC changes;
  • System Recovery- Reduce the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) for managing and maintaining your PCs by simply rolling the systems back to an optimal state;
  • System Security - Surf the internet without a trace of unwanted cookies, internet history, temporary files, spam applications or spyware;
  • Virus Protection - Prevent downtime and system damage due to virus and worm outbreaks. Prevent the virus from ever being written to the hard disk;
  • Change Management - Maximize system uptime by instantly undoing accidental or malicious system changes.

I haven't heard of this program? How does it compare to Reboot Restore Rx? That's what I'm currently using.

This program is worth its' weight in gold. Commit one or more volumes into Shadow Mode, then install/run whatever you want. Makes no difference whether it's a driver, AV,  software, malware,  whatever. It's good for testing softwares, if something goes wrong or doesn't work right then just reboot and it's as if nothing happened. Any traces are gone. I've only had SD fail once, on a system that already had serious issues, so it's extremely reliable. Downsides are that it can't take the place of AV/security software, can enter Shadow Mode without rebooting but needs a reboot to exit, which makes it useless for testing any softwares that require a reboot.

One thing that I encountered with  Shadow Defender and Windows 10 is that you can get locked in a constant reboot if you dont disable Windows 10 auto updates.

For example, lets say you are installing a new app.

You get out of shadow mode in Windows 10 by right clicking Shadow Defender and ."Exit all shadow Modes"

You reboot to get out of shadow mode

After reboot. You install the new app.

So you reboot to complete stable install or you dont reboot.

Lets say you rebooted (or not).Youre thinking its "o.k" to put Win10 in shadow mode.

But, if Windows 10 downloaded an update in the background and needs reboot to finish update but you have set shadow mode on.

When you shut down youre pc and restart. Windows keeps rebooting, trying to install the new updates. Reboot updating.  Reboot. updating.Reboot updating.   ect... So you end up in eternal loop

The only way I got out of the update shadow mode loop was by booting in Advanced Boot Options and did a "Refresh" PC.

That way I kept personal files and removed installed apps.

When you Refresh your PC:

  • Windows will save your personal files, personalization settings, and Modern apps installed from the Windows Store.
  • Windows will reset your PC settings.
  • Windows will remove all installed desktop programs. A list of the removed programs will be saved to your desktop.

Windows 10 automatic disk maintenance during idle causing pc to freeze
