Why is it so hard to get this utility? Link in first post contains a very old version 2.0.0

It has been an attachment, no link.

Now there is a link to latest version.

Just FYI
Whilst testing wim files and wimgapi.dll when Vista Beta came out, I found a (very serious) bug which I reported to MS. Since then they do not appear to have fixed it (although I have not tested the latest wimgapi.dll from win7).

Basically the bug was, if you make a wim file containing multiple images and then delete 2 images in succession (without adding an image inbetween) from the wim file, it corrupts the entire wim file!

This problem was repeatable. I made a script to show the issue which was basically (from memory)

add files to new wim
add files to image 2 inwim
add files to image 3 in wim
delete img 3
delete img 2
get info of wim file --> wim is corrupt

New version 4.2.0:

Added -A:MW switch which mounts a *.wim with read-write access.
-A:M as previous mounts with read-only access.

New version uploaded:
  • Added -A:X action to extract 1.xml from *.WIM.
Latest 7z has troubles to extract from Win8.
  • Added -A:W action to write the *.WIM's image information into a *.ini.
Download and documentation links in the first post.
