Hi,
I have only just started using a Win7PE USB. However, the time that 'Loading Windows Files' takes is quite too high (usually 2-3 minutes) on a fresh reboot.
I tried using the same device (as in, using a physical disk) in VMWare and the files were loaded in about 10 seconds.

I have tried swapping boot loaders, but nothing seems to speed the boot up. I am using a new high end USB3 drive on a USB2 port (read about 40MB/s) as my BIOS does not support USB3 booting, but it honestly should not take 2 minutes to load 600MB.
I have tried using rear/front USB ports (no difference), but for some reason Vmware performance is phenomenal compared to booting straight from the USB.
I have an Asus P6T deluxe V2 motherboard, using the latest Win7PE_SE build.

This is the only problem left preventing me from using Win7PE, so if anyone could suggest a workaround or fix that would be much appreciated.
Thanks.

If VMWare is faster than native boot, the reason is your BIOS. It obviously only boots with USB1.1 speed, despite the USB port being able to work much faster.

Have the same problem with most of my computers. Quite annoying!

Hmm... I'll try Plop again, see if boot speeds are any better. Last time it didn't really change much.

Is BIOS set to USB 2? Do you have latest BIOS http://uk.asus.com/M...6T_SE/#download
Try booting from USB to Plop and then use Plop to boot from USB again using Plop USB 2 drivers - http://www.rmprepusb.../tutorials/plop

Yes, BIOS is set to use USB 2, and I have the latest BIOS. The only thing I haven't tried is Plop using USB 2 drivers... which I will try now. That might work though, thanks.

Yep, Plop did in fact greatly improve boot speeds. Thanks very much.
Now I just have to get Apple internet tethering drivers working :/ sounds like fun...
