I'm wondering if you guys know a good way to edit these bootdisks.
For example, I'd like to be able to disable all the bloated applications which are loaded by default.
Things like anti-virus
cd burning software
OEM support utilities like remote control, etc
I don't want to have to go through and uninstall all these - we all know crap gets left behind anyways. Is there any tool out there to build a customized image where I choose what is installed?
Customize OEM Reinstallation CD/DVD

I don't think you can nLite the OEM install media directly and you would still have the long install/setup and activation issues even if it worked. I like to use a tool like PC-Decrapifier after the fact, add drivers, good programs etc. and make a hard drive backup image; that way if when re-install is needed, it takes 5 minutes with no hassles or setup. This is good advice even with retail media which can be nLited.

hehe, well I like the name. The site is very light on what it actually does though. How is it different from uninstalling?

I still uninstall some things manually if needed and use Revo Uninstaller for the ones that give me any trouble. It just gives you a good head start and the unattended part really helps.
Like I said, normally I use clean install media but when stuck with pre-installed OEM (or factory restores) it comes in very handy.
