Hi,

How can we give the support for printer in winPE?

If i need to add any package or any script at the time when I prepare the .wim file?

Details-

I am creating a .wim file with which I boot the pc on network using wds. For particular client I need to print some docs when it boots with my winpe. I have the CD of the printer that is connected to this client(with usb).

If the client is booting with winpe and I have its console on which I can execute the commands, then what should I need to do here for installing the printer drivers.

I know the only thing that drvload command is used to install the drives online that takes .inf file path.

But its not working. // confused why

Please help me someway.

Thanks

MChauhan

As far as i know, WinPE doesn't have printer support build in.

Hi,

If we talk about LAN drivers, then how can I install these on winpe?

I execute wpeinit command for enabling LAN support. It is fine on some clients and I can get their IP address, but on some machine it does not support and give me local IP i.e. default IP address.

I got to know that my winPE image does not have default support for this n/w adapter and need to install LAN drivers.

Then I install these drivers offline at the time when I am creating the wim file(by NOT using the CD of motherboard that have all drivers pack). I downloaded the drivers pack from internet and then run the command offline //Dism /image:E:\ISO\mount /add-driver /driver:".inf file path of driver pack”// This driver pack contains .inf, .sys, lib and dll etc.

Now my concern is to give these driver support Online without using this downloaded driver pack. Here I have CD of motherboard that have all the drivers pack.

How can I do it??

For Printer support you need better registry and more system32 files and the necessary prn* folder of DriverStore.

Using the registry of full Windows and the full DriverStore of Windows 8.1 or 7 will help.

For this purpose you might consider to PXE boot from Network with Mini Windows VHD

http://reboot.pro/to...twork-via-ipxe/

http://reboot.pro/to...ct-make-mini-8/

http://reboot.pro/to...ct-make-mini-7/

These Mini Windows VHD's behave just like full Windows and they have printer support.

So you can install and keep drivers when booting as FILEDISK

and the small size allows to load the VHD from Network easily into RAMDISK on the client PC.

Win8.1 SE might also be an interesting solution to modify since it has the registry for install of Win8.1

It has not yet printer support but it might be possible to add such support.
