In a WinBuilder *.log file most lines contain an icon, downloaded from boot-land.net.
When I now open a new log.html, I see a lot of 'connecting to boot-land.net'.

Question: May it be senceful to change winbuilder.exe to download from reboot.com?

I do not know how much time is used by boot-land.net redirecting to reboot.com.

Wouldn't it more senceful to:
  • reduce as much as possible UNneeded icons
  • have them in the package
:whistling:

Why the heck one should be connected to the internet to run a script engine?

I repeat my concerns for dial-up and GSN/UMTS users, what I normally do is start the GMS/UMTS USb modem tool, download as quickly as I can whatever I need to download, then work offline (I pay for time connected besides amount downloaded).

You are right! For that I already several month ago I created an 'offline' ability for the icons:
Attached File  WinBuilder_Icons.gif   28.79KB   19 downloads
If we ever will have WinBuilder 082, this feature is included.
Then also the icons can be in the package( dependent on project).

My question intended to make a patchz of 080 to download the icons from reboot rather than from boot-land.

Sure I am. :ermm:

Assuming there will be a developer for it and that he/she will adopt your patch/code/whatever. :whistling:

I think it's time to move from Delphi and go to .Net 4, it's cool, it's huge, it's l33t! ;)

Something you probably missed (or at least failed to react to) Posted Image:

I'm a volunteer to transfer to nearly EVERYTHING, maybe even MASM or COBOL, or PROGRESS, but NEVER to .Net!
.Net makes the user to a stupid consumer. In the back it uses (and sometimes quiently downloads) the famous 'sxs' files ...

If we are going to patch 80 for somethign like this, I would say that a back-port of newer icon handling would be better...

I (for one) would vote for that, and maybe a few other MINOR changes...that had already gotten a lot of testing in the 81RC...

But, I don't think that the redirects take a huge amount of time/energy...and for the icons, they might not even need to be redirected???

Request accepted, we will remove the need for images on 081 logs and above.

081 should soon be made available for public testing of this feature along with other changes requested in the meanwhile.

Come on. Don't spoil our big surprise for 2011.

I thought that the big surprise for 2011 was new help and tutorials needing Silverlight :dubbio:

was new help and tutorials needing Silverlight

That plan was immediately cancelled after Microsoft announcing that silverlight would become a tool to output standard HTML5 instead of a proprietary format: http://www.zdnet.com...as-shifted/7834

They're getting softer with age.
