Hope all is well, I figured out the previous questions but have a new one, when the boot disk is removed and you attempt to re-run ppAppsGenPE, you get the following error:
This shouldn't happen because (as you know) with a BootSDI, RAM loaded image there is no need for the CD after boot and with all the ppApps on separate media (USB-HD), there is nothing to access on the CD for ppAppsGenPE. It seems to be an arbitrary check held over from previous setups where ppApps were stored on the same media as the boot image. Is there a way I can disable this check? Thanks

OK, after some discussion with ReturnOfNights (original author), here's his comments:
* no easy fix - don't run it after booted is best fix for that
* if U have USB in on boot it's not an issue
* and that is the best practice anyway
* it's not ppAppsGen bug - it's a windows bug
* because there was a disk - it expects one
* caused by LiveXP
* so no fix I know of sorry
* could do it manually by excluding the DVD - but then what if U do use it
* U could do a AutoIt in BG to check for error box, include it with the ctrl alt del + Driver signing BG task
EDIT: later he replied:
* There is one fix U can do for the ppAppsGen - seeing if a folder exists on the DVD - it doesn't cause a disk check
* cause it to skip the disk check if ssWPI.ini doesn't exist
I hope this helps .. let me know if there's anything else for me to clear up regarding this issue.

Hi soporificHi amalux,

Thank you very much for checking on it, it's just a silly annoyance, no big deal at all. Just for clarity, here's some info but I'm not expecting a fix, just fyi.
* no easy fix - don't run it after booted is best fix for that
-- Actually, running after boot works fine, you just get this pop-up if no CD, even if next item true.
* if U have USB in on boot it's not an issue
* and that is the best practice anyway
-- USB in on boot has no effect on this issue whatsoever. In fact the USB is in (location of ppApps folder) and even with the CD removed, if you Cancel this pop-up warning 3 times, ppAppsGen works as expected!
* There is one fix U can do for the ppAppsGen - seeing if a folder exists on the DVD - it doesn't cause a disk check
-- This sounds promising but I thought that's what it's doing now, looking for ppApps(Live) folder, no? (see next)
* cause it to skip the disk check if ssWPI.ini doesn't exist
-- There is no ssWPI(CD).ini file present so this can't be the cause.
Is there any cmd line switches or syntax that affects how and where ppAppsGen scans for files or does it just look for folders at the root of every drive? Even if no 'fix' available, it works fine the way it is and in the rare case you want to re-run ppAppsGen with no disk, hitting cancel 3x is hardly a burden (or you can just put the disk back in)
Final: ppAppsGen works great! Very stable and dependable, one of a handful of truly great tools I consider indispensible, I can't thank you enough for bringing it to our attention and of course, hats off to ReturnOfNights for the brilliant work! Thanks again!!

Modified it to accept parameters.
ppag with no parameters searches all drives for ppapps folder (as before).
ppag with parameters searches only those drives for ppapps folder.
eg. "ppag d r u" only searches d: r: & u:.

orig au3, modified au3 & ppag.exe. lines added/changed have "; ppag" as a comment..

good to see you here man, but i guess you should use a TAG file to let the app search for the ppApps folder.
moreover , if you will boot from PE , your hdd partitions will not always get same driver letter ,same goes to usb.
but i know a way to fix USB letter while booting PE from USB. if you are interested , let me know and i ll post. it is a chinese tool run by PECMD

Hi maanu a tag file won't be necessary, with gbrao's mod, I'll be able to check all drives for ppApps folder(s) and only run ppAppsGen on drives where they are found. Drive letter shift in PE won't matter as they're checked in real time, no hard coding pre boot
Thanks guys, I really appreciate the suggestions and help for improvement.

- ppagx with no parameters searches all drives for ppApps folder.
- ppagx with one parameter searches all drives for folder with same name as the (first) parameter.
- eg. "ppagx myports" searches all drives for folder myports ( ignores ppApps ).

EDIT : Testing required by you guys ! I never used autoit before.

Haven't tested yet (I will today), looking at code, seems it's one or the other; ppag has option to choose drive(s) parameter or ppagx has option to choose folder name but since drive(s) is most important for me right now, I'll stick with that (unless I've missed the option to do both).ok, here's a version that allows you to use another folder name ( instead of ppApps ).
- ppagx with no parameters searches all drives for ppApps folder.
- ppagx with one parameter searches all drives for folder with same name as the (first) parameter.
- eg. "ppagx myports" searches all drives for folder myports ( ignores ppApps ).
I'm not sure it's a good idea to leave ppapps base folder name(s) open to user, this could cause confusion if folder names are forgotten or possible backwards compatibility issues if folder is named other than default options.
I experimented in past modifications with having ppapps searched for in sub-folders for better organization e.g.
ppApps\
Development
Extras
File Tasks
Forensics
Hardware
HD Tasks
Multi Media
Network
Security
Setup
System Tools
but found this problematic for the same reasons stated. More thinking and testing is required.
OK, I'm off to test your new modifications and see what options should be included for next script...

now with ppagx one can separate protables into groups. eg. have all portables of file utilities in one folder. when needed one can use ppapx with that folder name only.
btw, i did not have PEs in mind when i developed ppag & ppagx. i've made a 386MB universal XP using wimb's tool. it's going to replace all my PEs. i will have total control over it - don't have to depend on WB, scripts, driverimport pe, etc. (hope you guys don't mind me saying that).

Hello All,
First of all Love this site and work put into it. Thanks working on some uploads myself.
Question:
Could someone tell me why I keep going to a DSLeague.com home page when clicking the latest link below.? How do I get there. Try to learn more about this ppApsgenpe program and how it works but need the program first. Am I missing something? Thanks

Thanks for your rapid response this is all related to an anomally that when using this on my desktop "the original au3 file" works so i'm kinda guessing its bios related, dell laptop say no more. The Dell laptop has a ppapps in a partition but when renamed i.e xpppapps no problem.
O K solution but not the answer.
As of yet not tried this (the above link, file) but rather why on one system ok.
Will try tomorrow.
This was the issue.
http://reboot.pro/to...h-ppappsgen-pe/
not posted by me but interested as is why.
Edit:
Before I get told off by Wonko the desktop does not have either of the ppapps folders so I guess its not the script and also it's being booted from e2b which adds layers of complexity to the question.
