I have a "beta" from two years ago and the firmware number is still higher than the current release.
is it proper to suggest/request features on here?

New interrupt APIs are done, now cleaning up the high-level block and stream device APIs. Then probably the low-level microSD drivers, and the high-level USB drivers.

Sorry for the lack of updates this past month. Just wrapping up the event loop code, been working on that instead of the block/stream device APIs, those are next. Then on to the microSD and USB drivers as before.

Glad to hear development is still going on, delays, while unfortunate are understandable, but many thanks for taking the time to give us updates.

Event loop code is done, the block and stream device APIs are progressing, then it's on to the SD and filesystem code, then probably the USB and SCSI drivers. And lots of unit tests...

Awesome! I don't know what most of that means, but I'm excited to see progress.

Happy new year! The holidays were a busy time, but I did get some work done on the firmware! The block device APIs are almost done, had to rearrange quite a bit as the old code was very rushed and no good at all. Ripped out a lot of "features" that aren't worth the maintenance, etc etc. I should have a lot more time to get things done this year!

Glad to hear progress is being made. ISO stick will be so much better in 2016.

I'm really looking forward to the new firmware. I hope I have not spent my money on something that will become obsolete for lack of support.

Oof, I guess it has been a while since I posted an update. My phone reminders started disappearing before I saw them
Well, that's fixed now...
Anyway, there has been some really good progress! Still ripping out dead code and whatnot.
Block device API is basically done, SD drivers almost done being overhauled, GPIO drivers have been massively simplified and cleaned up...
As an aside, I have to say I really regret choosing Atmel AVR32 for this product. They've effectively abandoned the chip and never did add support for proper trace/debug to their IDE, so I'm stuck back on gcc 4.4.7. Not a huge issue, but preventing me from using some nifty C++11 / C++14 features. Ah well. Longer-term I plan to migrate isostick to ARM, hopefully with a performance bump, but my focus is on the firmware and software first. If I hadn't mentioned, part of the refactoring is to make it portable to ARM, which is fun considering AVR32 is big endian and ARM is little endian
In the interest of full disclosure, and in having income from more than just one product, I've started work on another product with a colleague. It's not related to isostick, and I am splitting my time between it and isostick. As before, I have zero intention of abandoning isostick. I'm sorry it's taking so long.

I'm to the point that I lost hope that an update will come... It makes me sad cause I was very excited and hopeful for this to be a killer device ~4 years ago... now it feels abandoned...

I agree :| I wish it would at least be open sourced so peeps could do stuff. I'm sure there will be people doing stuff on it.
Also, if there's donation need, I'm willing to donate. But 8 months with no reply is just not nice.

Agreed, too!
All worked fine in pure non-UEFI hardware, but in UEFI I got issues.
With my Lenovo S540 , currently as workaround, it works like this:
In Setup (F1) :
Boot UEFI / Legacy: both
Boot priority: Legacy first
CSM support: Yes
Rename <ISOSTICK-Drive>\config\isosel.bin to <blabla>
With iso-manager choose the wanted ISO.
With F12 boot into the IsoStick CD.
>> success.
