Hm, that's weird... checking if all favoured scripts and stuff go together, I fetched the latest version (06-03-2012) of amalux' script... and now BR11 PE refuses to launch, stating that ACTIVEDS.dll is missing... is there some sort of (script?) dependency I ignored?
:dubbio:

Project Win7PE_SE regular, WB 082, BR11 script #008 for Acronis B&R Workstation 11.0.17437.

Probably another Acronis script overwriting ACTIVEDS.dll, DD11 would be my guess. You don't need DD included since it's part of ABR. Supplying a log.html would give more clues ;)

That error is reproduceable, even though no second Acronis product has been put on my PE.

My first successful attempt for B&R11 was with a former script of yours (which had no file attachments)...
I'll look for it, maybe it'll run better...

Give me a link to the one that's working so I can compare scripts, thanks ;)

Meanwhile, I checked with the former version, the result stays the same.

I'm quite sure I used the same data in ...AcronisBR11 (just its location may differ, in my first attempt there was an absolute path, now %GlobalTemplates%AcronisBR11) and the licence, too.
However, I switched from Win7PE SE amalux edition to ChrisR's Win7PE SE (latest full), gathering more scripts (no concurring Imaging scripts yet, though). The build log doesn't show anything suspicious (apart from this little unrelated error you already know).

It's a little confusing, are you saying that the latest version of the script here doesn't work in Win7PE_SE_20120416?

Yes, I checked that one, too. And I'm using Win7PE_SE_20120416 with WinBuilder 082.
(With Win7PE_SE amalux Edition it was - also - WinBuilder 080.)

I tested that script in Win7PE_SE_20120416 with WinBuilder 082 and it works fine, no errors. There must be something else going on here; maybe one of the scripts you added? Can you test with a default project, no added scripts, to see if it works for you there?

@Mikka

If you get an error with my script, added to that otherwise default project, please supply a link to your log.html so I can try to isolate the issue you're having.

If you don't get an error with just my script, begin to test a few added scripts at a time until you reproduce the error and then isolate the offending script. I'll help you troubleshoot what the issue might be.

Well, I decided to start from scratch, the following didn't show me that dll error -- yet:
- re-downloaded Win7PE_SE_20120416
- fetched online updates ("Recommended")
- disabled scripts I don't need (in Components and Apps)
- added latest Acronis BR11 script version
- built

Now, I'll add some scripts and check, a few more and so on... this might take me a while. :whistling:

Yes! :good:

Now you know the tried and true method of testing new scripts ;)

Fwiw, I left all scripts selected by default unchanged for test. In other words, I did not de-select any scripts in the default setup of Win7PE_SE_20120416 full download and still got no error adding ABR11. Happy testing! :)

Ja, I'm loving it...
What bothers me is the fact that I won't find out what went wrong, so I'm prone to the same sort of frigging mistake again.
(Let's certainly hope not!)

Right now I've got ~ 95 % of my scripts activated and BR11 launches correctly (didn't do functionality tests, though). :yahoo:
So far, so good -- may Murphy's Law spare me henceforth ...

Oops, I got it again... :clapping:

However, it's different now, I was able to track down the culprit, I'm almost sure it's Component MMC which I accidentally disabled. Line 146 of MMC.script reads:
If,Not,ExistFile,%Target_Sys%activeds.dll,FileCopy,%Source_Sys%activeds.dll,%Target_Sys%
Et voilà, it seems that this very file isn't treated/copied by any other script, which leads me to believe that I just ran across a dependency. (And maybe there are even more hidden within...)

What do you think?

Good detective work! :1st:

That doesn't surprise (or trouble) me that MMC is required. Acronis (and other disk backup/imaging type programs) interact or 'depend' on components of Computer Management. I wouldn't of thought to mention it since it's enabled by default. Glad you found the source of the troubles :)

Okay, I inserted the line
Depend=%BaseDir%ProjectsWin7PE_SEComponentsMMC.script
into the [Main] section of your script.

If Acronis programs make use of MMC, that's the way to go; on the other hand, don't you think a line to ensure copying the needed dlls in your script would be an idea?

I also am using ABR 17437 and used latest script by amalux. Once I sorted out where all the files go it builds without error. I am using winbuilder80.
I am using the Win7PE 061612 download. Testing in vmware and also from DVD on real machine I get this error

Any ideas?

Hi gearmaker,

If you wouldn't mind, try with the last (known working) W7 project here http://www.mediafire...u9fztu4y4nnmb2p

A lighter version for testing is here http://www.mediafire...71vu5d8btz57ng5

Alternatively, you can try unchecking Components -> Remote Desktop Connection script in current W7 release. I'll run some tests in the meantime to confirm but I suspect that script is the culprit. Sorry for the trouble.

The new download you linked to worked perfect on first build. No errors and ABR opens without that error.

Thanks again.

This is great work. I used this script with multiPE project and have accronis backup working. Anyone know what needs to be done to get deduplication working?

I realise this is an old topic and hope it is not closed.

I had the version 008 of this script working well until sometime before Christmas 2012.

I updated lots of Win7PE scripts from the server and I noticed a lot of issues with drivers and general reliability when booting in anything other than VirtualBox.

I have sorted out the issues driver wise and suddenly I discover that Acronis B&R no longer loads.

This is the error code:

I found this on the Acronis Forum:-

There are 2 reasons for this error message.
The Acronis Managed Machine Service is either:

1. Present, but not starting.
2. Not installed.

I think that some of the Win7PE scripts I updated from the W7pese Server have changed something that B&R is dependent on.

I am using the MMC script #25 and have tried a build with an older version MMC #21 but nothing is noticed.

Has any user of Acronis B&R, using this script in Win7PE and found a similar problem..?

Regards,

BobxT

Hi All,

I can now report my error message thrown up in Acronis B&R 11 Server (11.0.17438) is due to changes introduced in December 2012. Specifically with the new "Macro Library (ML)" script.

This means the entire script has to now be restructured to comply with the new rules. I am going to try and edit the script, but not sure my skills are up to such a complex script.

I am a bit surprised no one else has yet run across this problem on Reboot.pro.

Desperately seeking resolution.

Regards,

BobxT

I just started using the latest WinBuilder version and I am getting the exact same error.  My old WinBuilder from 2011 works but I can't use all of the newer scripts with it.  Does anyone have any suggestions on how to fix this? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
