This I have always wondered, why is our engine closed source? Nuno? There are a lot of issues lately with CAPI vs WB.
Why not give the community the option to submit code change suggestions to WB?
That and I would love to see the code changes between versions.

I share the same opinion as you. Long ago, the engine source code was open to everyone until some sad lessons convinced me to keep it protected from predators. I want to see it open again in the future and we need to be well prepared for this change to happen with success.
With the help of sbaeder we are already introducing an open development model. Look here for a scoop: http://code.google.c.../wbwelcome?tm=6
If you want to participate, just let me know.

@nuno
I would love to speak with you regarding the next generation java based WB!
I was actually starting something similar, but if you wish to move WB to java then I would rather contribute to that then work on my own version.

Very well then, let's get busy..
Please send me a gmail address by PM so that we can both work on the code at the google site.
The base framework used for the next winbuilder is under development at http://remedium.googlecode.com and we are concentrating the specific wb documentation at http://winbuilder.googlecode.com
I will add your account to both sites.
