I'm not sure if these are good or bad news, Mikorist warned me that a new upgrade was made available today.

There is a chance that some of these quirks were addressed, there is a chance that they were not addressed and even introduce some new ones.

What do you say?

I need not to say anything, the actual choice of words you used is enough.

You said how Mikorist warned you <imagine that there is a left bracket here that I cannot type since the parser would mess my post>why exactly did you not use "let me know", "told me", "notified me", etc. ?<imagine that there is a right bracket here that I cannot type since the parser would mess my post>

And of course you will be using the new paradigm of "§@ç# the integrity of content's, let's apply blindly this new update to the live board" before having tested it and without knowing what the heck it does and  "let's see if we can mess something else that by sheer luck went through the previous updates untouched and still works as it should", so what would be the use of my comments (if any)?

Wonko

Wonko, we are now running with version 3.4.1 so please clear up the cache and try again.

Should hopefully deal with some of the nuisances.

Well, the upgrade did zip for the problem, that when posting, all formating is lost, unless one clicks on 'edit' and then on 'save modified post'.

Since I know you can read Italian , this is a little gift ;):

there are MUCH worse things happening  when using new software not fully tested/verified/configured :w00t:

However the article contains a coiple links to the English Wikipedia that may be of interest to a wider audience then just you and the other members understanding Italian :whistling::

A while I was looking at some options:

- vBulletin
- MyBB
- Vanillaforum

Maybe check out web-wiz-forums, it's allegedly free, and works for (among others) illyriad.  It wouldn't surprise me if it uses the same editor as your forum software.  Just in case, if you used a special trick to get rid of the default (= first) Afghanistan location, that might be now Abu Dhabi.

Hi omniplex, I checked their site.

The free edition replaces the links posted by users into viglink type of links with publicity. Also, they cut on features such as image posting and file uploading from the free edition. Didn't found anything about tools to port the content from other forum software and the yearly cost for the normal version is 50 euros per year (we have the perpetual IPB license, no costs in using newer versions).

In overall, what I didn't liked was the lack of plugins or the support from a big community like you see in the other cases. This means less upgrades and fixes even when a security breach is reported.

At least these guys on IPB work hard on this, they've likely seen all kinds of forum exploits that the web-wiz team would still have to discover one day.

Yes, very true.

If we go off track around here, no human lives are at risk. For the moment we'll stay with IPB. I wish these nuisances with the editor didn't happened. I don't know why they make this so complicated since so long. All other software where I write stuff around the web never seems to have trouble with this part. Just IPB does.
